I integrated this into Copilot and ran some evals this afternoon. Results were neutral at best and in most cases resulted in MORE token consumption. These results are consistent with our prior evaluation of RTK. Compression ends up removing information that the agent needs, which triggers a re-read, ultimately resulting in larger costs and latency. Beware of things that sounds too good to be true.

UP TO 95% TOKEN REDUCTION WITH ZERO CODE CHANGES A Netflix engineer just open-sourced Headroom, and it’s one of the smartest ways I’ve seen to cut LLM costs. It wraps Cursor or Claude in a local proxy to compress your payload before it hits the LLM: → Intelligently shrinks logs, JSON, and code → Perfectly preserves logic accuracy → Keeps 100% of your data local → Stops Opus-tier models from wasting tokens on boilerplate It already crossed 35K stars, which says a lot. 100% free and open-source. repo in 🧵↓

Starting June 1st, GitHub Copilot will move to a usage-based billing model as GitHub Copilot supports more agentic and advanced workflows. In early May, you'll see a preview bill experience, giving visibility into projected costs before the transition. 👉 Read more about the upcoming change: github.blog/news-insights/co…

We've made some "beastly" upgrades to our GPT agent prompt and we're seeing big improvements in completion rates across scenarios. You can use it today in Insiders with any GPT model... "github.copilot.chat.alternateGptPrompt.enabled": true, "chat.todoListTool.enabled": true Try it out and let us know what you think!

Pivotal was right. Pair programming makes you incredibly productive. The only difference is that now my 'pair' is a machine, and it's always "in the zone" at the same time I am, doesn't get offended when "I know better" and can correct me when I fail. I feel I can finally be a master chef, delivering MY creation, while the ingredients are meticulously prepared by experts. Embrace the future. You're still a creator.

Supervised a project 2 week ago. Two programmers where hired to create an MVP. I have worked with both before. - Alex from Germany. 100% code. 19 years experience. - Hamid from Pakistan. Code + Copilot + GPT-4 + no-code. 4 years experience. What do you think happened?

This is absolutely insane 🤯 Both the speed with which they integrated it and how much easier it makes building infrastructure. Congrats @PulumiCorp pulumi.com/ai/
