The poem on the Statue of Liberty, placed on the statue in 1903, was written by a Jewish communist, Emma Lazarus. A year before she wrote the poem, the US had basically banned all Chinese immigration, and we had a quota based system essentially until the 60s. Not sure what’s supposed to the criticism here.
