A big opportunity could be opening up for Troy Parrott at Real Betis.
Spanish media reports suggest Cucho Hernández could miss around a month through injury, potentially giving Parrott a sustained run leading the line.
The pair have largely shared the striker duties since Parrott’s arrival, although the Colombian has had more minutes in La Liga. Parrott has started just two of Betis’ last six games in all competitions, prompting some frustration among Irish supporters.
He now looks very likely to lead the line against Feyenoord in the Champions League on Wednesday, with the opportunity for considerably more league minutes over the coming weeks.
There was always reason to believe Parrott’s influence would grow as he settled in. This could accelerate that process and give him the run of starts to really make his mark.
Irish-eligible attacker Noah Pinder is really starting to make a name for himself at Stoke City! 🔴
The 2008-born attacker recently joined Stoke from Crewe Alexandra’s academy and has scored three goals across two games against Everton and Liverpool.
Pinder qualifies for Ireland through his grandfather, who is from Dublin, and looks an exciting prospect - a technical player with a lovely left foot and an eye for goal.
Still early days, but certainly a name to keep an eye on. It might not be long before he attracts attention within Irish football.
Conor Noss produced a moment of magic today to help keep MSV Duisburg five points clear at the top of the 3. Liga! 💥
The attacking midfielder opened the scoring against second-placed Viktoria Koln with a brilliant first-half strike. The visitors equalised after the break, but the 1-1 draw leaves Duisburg on 25 points after 10 games.
Noss is really starting to get going in his second season at the club, building on an outstanding debut campaign in which he scored 10 goals, provided four assists and earned a place in the Team of the Season as Duisburg narrowly missed out on the promotion play-offs.
He now has three goals and two assists in nine league appearances this season, with his side setting the early pace in the promotion race.
Great to see him shining again and what a way to add to his tally.

Proud to support such an amazing cause within the League of Ireland. Always reach out for help.
Week 6 & 7 ✅
9 goals from the week before the internationals and the first week back after the break. Goals O'Shea, Idah, Szmodics Robinson, Abankwah, Kenny X2, Moylan X2 raise the total.
We’ll continue to champion conversations around men’s mental health, particularly within football, where so many still struggle in silence.
Don’t let ignorant comments from a former Irish international discourage you from reaching out for help. There is strength in seeking support, and you deserve to feel better.
Total figure after week 7 is €105

It’s been an excellent start to life back in Italy for Abankwah following his successful 18-month loan spell at Watford, with the young defender earning recognition for his outstanding performances.
Playing on the right of a back three, he has been one of Udinese’s shining lights during a difficult start to the season. The standout moment undoubtedly came at the San Siro, where he scored his first goal for the club and his first in Serie A.
His club form was rewarded with three starts for Ireland during the international break, another big step forward for a player growing in confidence and importance.
The only setback has been an injury that forced him off after an hour against Torino on Monday night. He’s on the bench for today’s ongoing game against Lecce, so hopefully he can get some minutes and return to full fitness soon.
There’s no doubt he has the potential to become a huge player for both club and country.
Anselmo Garcia MacNulty starts!

𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐌𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲! 🧱
An excellent performance from the young defender today as Kaiserslautern defeated Michael Obafemi’s former club Bochum to move up to fourth in the 2. Bundesliga.
Playing on the left of a back three, Murphy was the highest-rated player on the pitch:
⭐️ 8.2 rating
🎯 81% pass accuracy
🛡️ 13 defensive contributions
💪 12 duels won
🚧 10 clearances
🔄 Six recoveries
✅ Two tackles won
⛔️ One blocked shot
All in just his fifth league appearance of the season.
For anyone who watches Murphy regularly, that left centre-back role in a three looks such a natural fit. He’s very good defensively, but his composure on the ball and ability to step out from the back and get his team playing really stand out.
What a difference a year makes, too. An unused substitute in three of Ireland U21s’ opening four qualifiers last year, he now looks a hugely important figure in that side.
He was immense during the international break, looking a rock at the back and getting on the scoresheet against Kazakhstan.
Moving to a new country, adapting to a new language and stepping outside his comfort zone was a big decision. He’s now reaping the rewards of regular football, and you can see his confidence growing.

Since coming into the Ireland U21s this year, scoring on his debut against Kazakhstan, he's become one of the group's unsung heroes for his reliability.
At 21, he's consistently putting in the hard yards, parking any ego and going out to play games, with loans from Barwell to Drogheda and Boston. Now an ever-present for Barnet in League Two.
Playing under Dean Brennan, who led Barnet to the National League title and was League Two Manager of the Month in August.
Let’s. Talk. About. Colin. Healy.
Kerry FC held Cork City to a 1-1 draw last night, which was enough for a historic place in the playoffs. A club that has only been senior since 2023.
That came after a poor start. Sixteen points from 18 games. No league win until the sixth match. A three-game touchline ban.
Plenty KFC supporters asked questions about if he was the right man for the job. But to the club’s credit, they stood by him.
What followed was the best second half of any team in the First Division. 36 points from 18 games, more than champions Cork City.
A run which secured fourth and a historic playoff place, a remarkable achievement for a club that had never finished above the bottom two.
From 9th to 4th. From 33 points to 52. Six fewer defeats, 17 fewer goals conceded.
He only joined the club in May 2025, with Kerry ninth. Back-to-back league wins for the first time in the club’s history followed, along with an FAI Cup semi-final and a record points total.
What makes it more remarkable is what he’d been through to get there.
In 2024, Healy lost his wife, Kelly. He has spoken openly about how his focus became helping his two young children cope with the loss of their mother.
His time as Ireland women’s assistant ended when his contract wasn’t renewed, with Healy disputing assurances he says he was given by the FAI.
How the players responded says it all, with Denise O’Sullivan criticising the FAI for “lacking class”.
At Cork City, Healy took over a side already on its way out of the Premier Division. Within two years, the club was back as First Division champions. When results turned in 2023, he stepped away.
Time has been kind to him. Cork City were relegated again within six months of his exit, and the decline that followed said more about the club than the man.
Setbacks have followed him since his playing days, from missing out on a World Cup at Saipan to two broken legs in under a year at Sunderland.
Every time, he has come back.
A year ago, we said Colin Healy was the right man for Kerry. Through everything, he has proved it.
Look up resilience in a dictionary and there should be a photograph of Colin Healy.
