We can’t become a society where everyone either has 2 jobs or 2 houses–people need to know there are affordable housing options within reach. In Congress, I’ve successfully pushed for the Build Now Act to encourage more housing construction and worked to cut the red tape putting an undue burden on those trying to access housing.
Thank you to the staff at Outsiders Inn and the volunteers at St. Paul Men’s Shelter for giving me an opportunity to see your work firsthand.
My statement on the President’s decision to sign an Executive Order yesterday waiving the sanctions on the sale of Russian oil
I don’t know what kind of low-life loser you have to be to go out and scam seniors, but I do know law enforcement should have every tool available to react as quickly as possible.
I introduced the One Front Door for Elder Fraud Act to streamline the reporting process for targets of scams and to ensure every report gets on the desk of the right investigator.

Without skilled trades, some of the greatest advancements in history wouldn’t have happened. As a member of Congress, I am advocating for shop class in middle school, honors level shop class in high school, and advancing pride and power in the trades.
Good shop programs are exactly what our country needs right now and it is so encouraging to see leaders in our community put the muscle behind the work to make these programs a possibility.
It’s my job to make sure veterans are getting the support they deserve.
If you’re having trouble with the VA, Veterans Programs, or accessing any benefit you already earned by serving our country, I’m here to work for you. My team of caseworkers is ready to make sure you get what you deserve. Just visit my website gluesenkampperez.house.gov/c…, give us a call at 360-695-6292, or stop in at one of my offices.
Congress's approval is at an all-time low—and when you look under the hood, it’s easy to see why. Across America, families are making tough choices every day to balance their checkbooks and pay their bills on time. Meanwhile, in Congress, the rules seem to be different.
It doesn’t have to be this way. The Congressional Budget Reform Act of 2026 will hold Washington accountable. This is how we restore fiscal stability—and put working Americans back in control.
Congress, and the American people, have been clear that we do not support buying Russian oil to fund Putin’s war in Ukraine. Just weeks ago, an overwhelming majority in the House passed legislation to levy steep new sanctions on the sale of Russian oil. And before I came to Congress, there was a near unanimous vote to expressly prohibit the import of Russian oil with the Ending Importation of Russian Oil Law. The President’s decision to buy Russian oil is in direct conflict with the will of Congress and the intent of these laws.
I have been in direct communication with both my Republican and Democratic House members who share my opposition to the President’s ill conceived action. I am working with my colleagues to introduce bipartisan legislation that will block any and all purchase of Russian oil.
Just a few weeks ago Congress overwhelmingly voted to impose new, strict sanctions on the sale of Russian oil, which is funding Putin’s fascist war against Ukraine.
Trump’s undermined our national power in his announced plans to buy Russian oil because: a) it won’t actually bring down prices; and b) we’re now funding the war against Ukraine.
Mr. President, if you want to help the American people by bringing down the high cost of diesel, end your war with Iran.
Nominating students from Southwest Washington to our military service academies is one of the greatest honors I have as a Member of Congress. At the info night, it was a real encouragement to see a packed house of young people and their families from throughout the district interested in serving our country.
The deadline for the service academy nominations is Sunday, November 15th. Please go to my website to learn more about our process: gluesenkampperez.house.gov/s…
I am so proud of the teachers, leaders, and students for their dedication to the trades at @VancouverSD Fort Vancouver High School. The new CTE building is a reflection of the values that we all share-grit, pride in our work, and determination to make things with our own hands.
In Congress, I will always look for ways to uplift students and teachers in the trades.
A byzantine permitting process is driving up the costs of getting power projects online. Ratepayers shouldn’t have to shoulder the burden of these extra costs. We don’t need a phonebook sized book of regulations slowing us down.
In Congress, I’m working on permitting reform-- like the SPEED Act-- to help make these vital projects a reality without costing us an extra arm and a leg.

When my husband and I built out our home it wasn’t easy, but it was profoundly rewarding, financially and emotionally.
Our vets shouldn’t have to choose between using their home loan benefits and using their skills when they’re putting down roots. But currently, it’s practically impossible to use a VA loan to build their home themselves. Very excited to work with my gym buddy @RepWesterman to expand the VA home loan flexibility, and ensure our vets with trades skills can actually use them!

Recently I sat down with local small business owners to talk about the challenges facing grocery stores and producers in our community, how we can level the playing field for small business and support the economic agency of families putting food on the table.
Thank you to our local independent grocers and farmers for talking with me about this complicated issue.
Last week, I voted again (for the sixth time) to stop this ill conceived war in Iran. He’s put our military in harms way, for no discernible value to our security or safety. And diesel's 7.50 in North Bonneville.
