Mr. Speaker, you should support my proposal to create an official ethics standard for lawmakers too cognitively impaired to do their jobs.
Politicians staying in office when they're impaired is a bipartisan problem that requires a bipartisan solution.

No member of Congress unable to cognitively perform their duties should be able to hide behind their staff.
Everyday Americans see it — and I know my colleagues do as well.
Yet, my amendment was just shot down to ensure members of Congress can actually fulfill their oath of office.
This isn't a laughing matter, and every citizen in our country deserves to know their representative is showing up for them.
We deserve a reflective, effective, and accountable government — so I'll keep working at this.
