I joined the Green Party today. I have voted Green ever since I was first eligible to vote. I am also Jewish, have been all my life, and am a member of Nottingham Liberal Synagogue. I think the motion recently passed by the Green Party was divisive and highly problematic for multiple reasons. However, I will never stop believing that both individual human beings and groups of human beings are complicated, diverse and, in the right conditions, capable of mutual understanding and respect. In that spirit, I will continue to participate fully in public, religious and political life, just as I have always tried to do, and I will always support the right of others to do the same. I will therefore never stop trying, in whatever ways are available to me, to support those working towards a safer, more just and more equal future — not only for Israelis and Palestinians, but for all human beings who share this earth.
