Today, on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we honor the servicemembers who were held as prisoners of war and remember those who remain missing in action. They will never be forgotten.

Happy birthday to the United States Air Force! For 79 years, our Airmen have owned the skies and defended our freedoms around the world. To all the brave me and women who have worn the uniform, thank you for your service and sacrifice.

This morning I gave what was likely my final speech on the floor of the House of Representatives. It’s been an incredible honor to represent the people of Oklahoma’s First District over the past eight years, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside so many members and staff who have helped shape my time in Congress. To everyone across OK-01, thank you for placing your trust in me to represent you in the People’s House.

25 years ago today, the world was forever changed when terrorists attacked the United States and took nearly 3,000 innocent lives. It was an act meant to strike fear into our nation and showed the very worst of humanity, but in the face of unimaginable tragedy, the light of America shone bright. First responders ran towards danger to save others and healthcare workers worked tirelessly to care for the injured. Across the country, Americans came together and supported each other during one of our nation’s darkest days. Today, we remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and their loved ones who continue to carry that loss. Their memory and the sacrifices made that day remain with us still. We will never forget.

One year ago today, Charlie Kirk was murdered for speaking openly about his beliefs. Charlie was a father, a patriot, and a man of God who believed in engaging others through respectful conversation and debate. He inspired many and played an important role in bringing young Americans to the conservative movement. Political violence stands in stark contrast to the values Charlie championed. Even in disagreement, we must continue to engage with others with respect and in good faith. Today my prayers are with Charlie’s family and loved ones as we remember his legacy and carry forward the principles he dedicated his life to.

Thank you to the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa for hosting me to tour the site of the new OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center facility. I enjoyed learning more about this important project and how it will expand access to advanced cancer care for northeast Oklahoma.

I had a great visit to Southwestern Wire Inc. in Sand Springs, where I saw firsthand how they manufacture steel wire used across the United States. I enjoyed learning more about their operations and the important role they play in our manufacturing industry.

Today marks a solemn fifth anniversary since 13 American heroes were tragically killed at Abbey Gate while trying to help evacuate US personnel during the withdrawal from Afghanistan. We will never forget their service and sacrifice to our country. Tammy and I are keeping the families of the fallen in our prayers today as we honor their memory.

Thank you to the Owasso Chamber of Commerce for hosting me at the State of the U.S. Address. Grassroots entrepreneurship and innovation are the backbone of our economy. I’m grateful for the chance to hear from local business leaders and learn more about the ideas driving our community forward.

I had the opportunity to tour the CARES Club in Tulsa. This club is professionally designed to encourage neurodivergent adults to create community and increase their independence. It was inspiring to see the impact they are making.

This month I visited the Tulsa Petroleum Equipment Institute. It was great to learn more about the important work they are doing to support Oklahoma’s energy industry and the hardworking people who keep it moving forward.

My wife Tammy and I had the pleasure of speaking to students in the Summer Leadership Series across Oklahoma, and sharing our story with such an engaged group of leaders was a real honor. We must invest in our young leaders because they are the future of America.

I had a great visit to NEO A&M College, where I sat down with Dr. Stafford and faculty to talk about the workforce programs preparing students for real careers right here at home. Programs like these are exactly what it takes to keep our talent and our jobs in Oklahoma and in America.

Tammy and I wish a Happy Back to School to all students across the First District getting ready to return to their classrooms. May your year be filled with learning, opportunity, and growth!

I am closely monitoring the pipeline facility fire in Glenpool, and my office remains in contact with local officials as the situation develops. I’m grateful to our first responders who have worked to contain the fire and am praying for their safety as they continue response efforts.

Touring the Oklahoma National Guard Museum reminded me just how much courage and sacrifice it takes to defend our freedoms. I’m proud to support a place that keeps these stories alive for generations of Oklahomans to come.
