The FAA rolled out a new AI tool for air traffic control in DC without publishing a safety evaluation or sufficiently consulting labor. @RepAprilDelaney and I are urging the FAA to stop the rollout until we have answers. Air traffic control leaves zero margin for error.

On this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we celebrate the endless and bountiful contributions of Native people. Let us continue to center their voices and wisdom, and staunchly advocate for their community and land prosperity, especially as it relates to climate change.

For years, the Trump admin has launched slanderous attacks against Rep. Omar. This morning, the administration sent federal officials to raid her home. We cannot and will not accept this unprecedented abuse of power. I stand with @Ilhan.

This farm in upstate New York almost had a data center move in right next door, but then NY got the first statewide data center moratorium in the country. We went with @AOC and @GovKathyHochul to talk to farmers who are thrilled the data center wasn't built, and who are still on alert for what happens when the moratorium expires.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed. This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities. Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery. Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children. Abolish ICE.

On Tuesday, @GovKathyHochul @RepPatRyanNY and I had the opportunity to speak with farming communities and spotlight a New York State moratorium on data center construction. We must hold Big Tech companies accountable for maintaining our air, water, and climate quality.

Big Tech companies like Flock Safety have built a mass surveillance system to harvest Americans’ private and personal data without their consent. I’m proud to introduce the Ban Flock Act with @SenSanders to enforce our constitutional right to privacy.

NEWS: I am proud to introduce the Restoring Essential Plan Coverage Act with @RepAOC. This bill would reverse Donald Trump's funding cuts to the NY Essential Plan and restore health care coverage for hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers.  Donald Trump will stop at nothing to rip insurance away from as many people as possible. @RepAOC and I have a plan to beat him:

Settlers are driving Palestinians from their homes in a violent land grab. Sanctions can stop it. I'm introducing legislation—alongside Reps. Dean, Beyer, Casar, Jacobs, Escobar—that imposes sanctions against anyone looking to take Palestinian land in the West Bank or Gaza. Under the Stop the Settlements Act, anyone pursuing settlements can’t do business with the United States. In addition, thank you to all of the my colleagues who are co-sponsoring this bill: Rep. As heavy rain and flooding continues to impact our city, it's important to monitor the latest forecasts and avoid unnecessary travel. If you must travel, never walk/drive into flooded areas and sign up for @NotifyNYC to receive emergency notifications. Stay safe, NY-14.
NYC Emergency Management just wrapped a coordination call with the National Weather Service and City agencies. Here's where things stand and what's ahead. What's happened so far
🌧️ About half an inch to an inch of rain has fallen across the city.
🌬️ Gusts have reached 45 mph citywide and up to 55 mph at JFK. NYC Parks has received about 640 requests for downed or damaged trees since Friday, most in Queens and Brooklyn.
🌊 Jamaica Bay reached major flood levels with this morning's high tide, and parts of Long Island Sound reached moderate flooding. What's ahead
🌧️ Tonight, about 8 p.m. through mid-morning Sunday: The heaviest rain arrives in bands falling at up to 1 inch per hour. Some areas could see 2 inches overnight, with localized amounts up to 3 inches. Isolated flash flooding is possible.
🌬️ Tonight into Sunday morning: Gusts of 45 to 55 mph continue, with an isolated gust to 60 mph possible. More downed trees and power outages are likely.
🌊 Tonight's high tide: Around 8:15 to 9 p.m. on the south shore and near midnight along Long Island Sound. Moderate flooding is expected in Jamaica Bay and the Rockaways.
🌊 Sunday's high tides: Around 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. on the south shore and around noon along the Sound. Moderate flooding is expected in Jamaica Bay and the Rockaways. The midday tide could bring more widespread moderate flooding to the coastal Bronx and northern Queens, including parts of Flushing and Astoria. Staten Island and Lower Manhattan should see minor flooding.
🌤️ Sunday afternoon: Winds drop off to gusts around 35 mph. Scattered heavy showers are possible into the evening, and showers linger into Monday.
🏖️ City beaches are closed to swimming and lifeguards are not on duty. Life-threatening rip currents are expected, so stay out of the water. 🚗 Tonight through late Sunday morning is the worst time to travel. City crews are clearing downed trees, responding to flooding, and keeping rescue teams staged along the coast. ✅ If you live in a basement, be ready to move to a higher floor. Never walk or drive through floodwater, and stay away from downed lines.
🌳 Report fallen trees to 311.
🏠 Report damage to your home or business at reportdamage.nyc.gov. Text NOTIFYNYC to 692-692 for alerts. Basement apartment residents can sign up at nyc.gov/notify and select the basement apartment option to get automated phone calls during flooding.
