so if i remember correctly, this hospital (q***) allows direct relatives to donate dahil hindi naman yun yung mismong sinasalin sa px (his mom). replacement lang. so baka yun sinabi talaga ni op yung yung reason for deferral.

iba actually nakikita kong reason why he was discouraged to donate blood sa mom niya
for blood donation, meron kasi tayong tinatawag na Graft vs Host disease usually seen if direct relative, in this case anak siya ng patient.
kumbaga, yung dugo ni OP (donor) will attack the body ng mama niya (receiver)
if wala na talaga makitang donor, then pwede naman magdonate si OP, but the blood will go irradiation pa, additional process and gastos
Kaya not really advised ang direct relatives to donate blood

Okay so.. According to the Blood Donor Selction and Counselling Manual, hindi dahil bading ka, ay hindi ka pwedeng mag-donate.
Ang nakasulat ay, “if you are a male who has/had sexual contact with another male, even once?” Wala pong sinabi na bawal magdonate. Maaring si OP din po ay na-deferred sa ibang rason. Marami po ang saklaw ng rason kung bakit hindi po muna siya makakapag-donate.
Ano ang deferred? Mapo-post pone po muna yung pagdo-donate niya kasi po hindi po siya pasok sa criteria.
So, bawal na siya magdonate ever? Hindi. Pwede na siya magdonate after a time being (pwedeng days/weeks/months/years)
Ang protocol po na ito ay matagal ng sinusunod ng DOH at AABB, ito po ay para sa ating mga pasyente para mas safe at maayos po ang pagsalin ng dugo sa kanila.
pwede naman… yung idodonate niyo na dugo ay hindi yung mismong isasalin sa patient mo… first in first out yan. you’re replacing their stocks ganun. kapag no stocks lang ang bb applicable yan… if i’m not mistaken…😭
