Not really tbh. I read an article a while ago talking about arrival fallacy and disconnected from the idea that my life had to look a specific way in order to feel good about it. Practice happiness with the resources you have

The most religious personas actually don’t believe in God they believe in decorum as a method for enforcing behavioral modification.
Polygamy is a complete trainwreck. The disdain, dislike, distrust people have for their own "family" is so...shocking.
Simple convos become power struggles. Can't even do something nice w/o someone being suspicious. Bizarre. 0/10.

Before you say “I don’t know” did you look it up
You will have better conversations with people when you actually can come to them with some information based on what you’ve researched first

"Having everyone you love all alive and in one place is a breathtaking experience".
I just came from a trip which was a microcosm of this & I feel the sentiment spiritually.
Let me preface this by saying that women need to be exceptionally picky about who they marry, especially if they have some success or plan to - and a lot of women would be better off single than shackled to the losers they’re with.
BUT there is nothing, nothing, nothing better than being married to a good man, and no, it’s not just a piece of paper, and no, it’s not just if you’re religious (I’m not even). Being married 100% did change my relationship and entirely in positive ways.
This avoidant, “we’re together for as long as it works” bs is a fear-based way of living that prevents couples (and the kids they may have) from truly becoming one and experiencing the permanence, security, and growth that comes with it.
Having a big wedding is less consequential but I will add, as someone who was on the fence about having one, it’s my favorite memory of my entire life. I still think about it, we reminisce about it (together and with guests), we look at the pictures. Having everyone you love all alive and in one place is a breathtaking experience people are undermining because of the costs or some kind of anti-women hate that attributes weddings to vanity.
Anyways, I just think this narrative is toxic and harmful for young women. (But Shay makes the best luggage on the market and I’m using it as we speak so no hate to her). We can and should be honest about the risks involved and acknowledge the seriously sad lack of good options for young women right now without discounting the value. This is worth fighting for (for women and for men) and the focus should be raising better men for women to partner with.

Once again these aren't monthly periods, because menstruation is the result of ovulation, and you cannot ovulate while pregnant due to hormonal feedback. It's another type of pregnancy bleeding. Learn body literacy and never worry about cryptic pregnancy another day in your life

Women, especially black women are a big resource to many people and many things
For once, be a resource to yourself
You're going to be very upset in 2037, if you keep operating in one dimension which allows people to keep extracting from you leaving you with nothing

You assist the system, when you're self destructive
You beat the system, when you are not
I need more people to consider that sometimes

The art of the heart to heart. It's been my policy for years not to send text walls. Here's what I do:
- Move/eat/relax
- Pray/journal
- THEN if needed, text to arrange a time to talk irl/phone
And if I receive a text wall I ONLY reply with an invitation to talk irl/phone 💚
This & @halleberry's (1998?) interview with Jay Leno in the purple dress are the best anyone has ever looked.

I saw a post about how our children will remember the little rituals we create, the songs we play, the meals we cook, and how safe they felt being themselves. And it made me think about what a huge responsibility it is to create a home inside someone’s memory. What a privilege to have chosen this. I think that’s what parenting is. Understanding the weight of the responsibility and taking it on proudly.
