i think you misunderstood me. to get treated you have to acknowledge that you are disordered, thats not necessarily instilling shame. i feel like anyone with a harmful disorder or even addiction knows this. The first step to recovery and gaining control over something is to acknowledge it, and how its harmful (either to yourself or others). and, like ive said, its a nuanced conversation. even if you come out recovered youre still going to have to understand that there is a stigma surrounding your attraction, and you cant pretend that the uncontrollable attraction is something everyone is going to see as normal (because, lets be honest, its not). people may still feel, and have the right, to feel uncomfortable around you. of course its a good thing that a person has recovered, but you cant really expect a group of people to jump with joy when you say “hey im attracted to kids.” i worded it weird i know but i hope yk thats not what i meant exactly LOL
