We need an open-access, comprehensive map of the 🌍 ecosystems to monitor, conserve & manage efforts to protect biodiversity and help reverse nature loss.
At #COP16Colombia @GEOSEC2025 side event, stressed that by mapping natures footprint, we can go further, faster, together.

Finally the main @AllenCoralAtlas paper is out! The paper acts as a scientific reference and summary of the ACA, including global reef extent, and the distribution of benthic and geomorphic class. Congratulations to paper lead @mitchest and the ACA team. doi.org/10.1016/j.crsus.2024…
Some figures from the paper: 1.5 million training samples, >400 contributors, >2.1 million satellite images and 100 trillion pixels of data to produce a global 5-m map of coral reef ecosystems. Available for free on the ACA website: allencoralatlas.org/
