1/3 Just released my latest preprint! Introducing EVADE - a Python package designed for analyzing pocket volumes and dihedral correlations. Using EVADE, I uncovered statistical pitfalls and novel insights into the enigmatic protein 3CLPro. doi.org/10.1101/2024.05.22.5…

Two talks from our lab this weekend at the AMS meeting in DC:
I'll be talking about our findings on active filtering of neural sequences.
@rem_yo will present early work on how that filtering happens in cortical networks (balanced state EI nets). #neuroscience #ai

Beyond excited for my PhD work to be out in press! This is my first first-author primary research article. Thankful for the strong mentorship from @binwu1 who got me through this challenging project and to @yliu_UofU, @InoueLabJHMI, and Leslie for their brilliant contributions!
Very excited to share that our paper about Inducible RNA decay and P-Body is published on @natcomms. This work was spearheaded by @LABlake93 @BiophysicsJHMed in collaboration with @InoueLabJHMI and @yliu_UofU. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

New preprint, on 'sequence filtering'.
Led by @CianaDeveau, Z Zhou.
We see this as a key step forw on how cortex works.
All cortical areas have dense exc-exc recurrent connectivity.
What do these connections do, esp in sensory ctx?
Our data say: they do dynamics/time.

If you'll be at Cosyne 2024 this week, please come by our posters:
We have 3 presentations, by Paul LaFosse, Remy Yovanno&Bradley Akitake, and Ciana Deveau.
All about what the recurrent network of sensory ctx does.
Looking forward to seeing others' science at the meeting too!

🧠🚨: Our latest paper is out today in @NeuroCellPress! Led by @JonORawe, we show salt-and-pepper excitation& suppression in mouse V1 arises from purely exc opto input.
That means the excit-excit recurrent connections in cortex change how neurons respond to input. 1/3

Sharing new preprint from our lab: @biorxiv_neursci.
Led by @pklafosse, we show neurons in the awake🧠can filter out inputs: attenuation-by-suppression.
Also: real neurons’ activation function share features w/ #ai systems (eg ChatGPT). #neuroscience
Comments welcome!

Phosphorylation of ubiquitin shifts its conformational dynamics! Cool new story from Albert @aylau and student (now Dr.!) Remy Yovanno @rem_yo .
Online now! Phosphorylation at Ser65 modulates ubiquitin conformational dynamics dlvr.it/SpzsQ6
Transition between ubiquitin conformations involves a Bent intermediate further stabilized by Ser65 phosphorylation.

I started this project during my rotation in the #Albert_Lau_lab, and it helped convince me to spend my PhD using MD approaches to study biology!
