Attn social media managers/journalists:
Most news orgs don't consistently use alt text to improve the accessibility of their social content. They should!
*especially while communicating urgent info during a disaster* (looking at govt accounts too)
Here's how + why to start:

Hey y’all: I just found out I’ve been laid off from @fivethirtyeight. I’m sad, but absolutely *loved* the work I did for the site. I’m still processing today’s news, but am eager to find a new reporting job covering race and politics — ideally staying remote. My DMs are open!
Back on Twitter for a bit to share that I was also laid off from @FiveThirtyEight yesterday 💔
My background is in audience engagement for newsrooms, but I'm hoping to move away from social media-centered roles. Here's what I'm looking for:
-Managing partnerships
-Advising newsrooms on content/membership strategy
-Program managing trainings/workshops for journalists or students
-Email strategy
-Product work
-Something you think I might be a good fit for that I haven't thought of yet!
I’m looking to work remotely (or hybrid) from Austin for the near future. My DMs are open if you have any leads!
And here are some of my amazing colleagues who you should snatch up ASAP: xitter.cf/onyxfish/status/165128…

A growing political social media strategy has become successful in recent years: Package complicated information into short, simplified bites, and use it to divide people into distinct groups that are opposed to one another. bit.ly/3zMRevN

Baseless claims of widespread voter fraud repeated by Texas Republicans have influenced policy decisions.
The state has dozens of residents charged in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot — including one who's running for office.
Here’s how the insurrection is still affecting Texas. 1/
.@andrewczhang is a rising star to keep an eye on! Check out the great work he did on our team this semester:
1/ Today is @andrewczhang's last day as a Texas Tribune engagement fellow. It's been an absolute pleasure to have Andrew on team audience — he has outstanding news judgement, can juggle really well and writes just so cleanly.

The U.S. Supreme Court allowing Texas' abortion law to remain intact creates a roadmap for other states that may seek to limit other constitutional rights, legal experts say.
On Saturday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom took a step toward that prediction. Here's how we got here:

The list of Elvia’s accomplishments is long, but one of my favorite things she’s worked on is this series of Instagram Lives explaining the Texas Legislature. She’s so good at making complicated topics accessible and bringing readers along. instagram.com/tv/CKE1hNPDQpf…
