From officiating the @EmiratesFACup final to delivering the trophy at Wembley 🏆
A special full-circle moment for Andy Halliday MBE this weekend as he carried the Emirates FA Cup trophy to the Royal Box ahead of the final.
After being part of the 2016 final as an assistant referee, Andy became the first serving soldier involved in the ceremony who has also officiated in the showpiece occasion itself.
An incredible contribution to both football and military service across five decades 👏

Hear from our friends @refsix about the new 8-second rule and how it will be enforced within our game 🤔

The new 8-Second Rule: How It Will Be Enforced in England 🧤
Following yesterday’s video, here’s how English referees will apply the new 8-second rule starting July 1:
🔹 Key update: 3 offences = 1 caution
If a goalkeeper delays 3 times, they’ll be shown a yellow card. After that, the count resets.
🔹 Why this approach?
To balance enforcement with match flow. It gives goalkeepers a clear limit — and teams fair warning.
🔹 Ref process remains the same:
– Silent count 8–6
– Visible + verbal count 5–0
– Over 8 seconds? Corner kick to the opposition
– Interference? Countdown delay or free kick
📌 The rule helps keep the game moving – and fair.
