Every time a Mexican gets uppity about their culture, you should gently remind them that the "Day of the Dead" was invented in 2015 by the James Bond movie "Spectre"
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Dรญa de los Muertos is a centuries-old Mexican holiday with pre-Columbian Mesoamerican roots blended with 16th-century Catholic traditions, not invented by the 2015 film Spectre. Mexico City's large public parade started in 2016 and drew from the movie's fictional scene.
