This Friday North Hills will host Plum in another significant Northeast Conference matchup. Martorelli Stadium will see a clash of strong points as the Mustangs arrive with an offense averaging 38 points per game where they will face a stout Indians defense allowing only 7 points per game. Plum has a 5-2 overall record, but both losses have come recently in conference play. Based in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, the Mustangs have not historically been a frequent opponent of the Indians, but they have landed in the same conference recently. The teams met last season and North Hills came away with a narrow 14-13 win, the difference in the game being an extra point blocked by Johnell Edison. Edison also had a huge game on the ground, rushing for 190 yards. Below are a few facts on the history between these schools.

A football program for a dime?! Yes, that was the price when North Hills traveled to Penn Hills in 1958. North Hills was 7-0 at the time and in contention for the AA WPIAL title, but the trip turned sour as, per the Post-Gazette, they got “trampled in the dirt” by a 48-13 margin. North Hills makes another trip to Yuhas-McGinley Stadium on Friday, and they are looking for a better result. Note for history buffs: although Penn Township officially changed their name to Penn Hills Township in 1957, the school took a couple more years to adopt the name. Hence the program still says “Penn High”. 1958 was also the year the new North Hills High School opened, and it appears Pittsburgh newspapers were still hedging on the name with "West View (North Hills)".
