"Give It Away" was released in 1991 as the lead single from Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Written by Anthony Kiedis, Flea, John Frusciante and Chad Smith, the funk-rock anthem became the band's first No. 1 hit on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, where it remained at the top for five consecutive weeks and helped propel the group into the mainstream.
