So I only took some few doses of Escitalopram, a commonly prescribed SSRI, for mild anxiety, and after the LAST DOSE I took on the 26th of march 2024, I've been having a ton of symptoms. - Emotional blunting/numbness, anhedonia - Cognitive dysfunction, memory problems, aphantasia, blank mind, brainfog. - Tingling in extremities - Partial loss of sensibility in all my body. - Sexual Dysfunction, loss of libido, genital numbness, erectile dysfunction. - Muscle weakness - Chronic fatigue, I feel weirdly tired all the time - and many other symptoms. MANY PEOPLE have gone through a similar experience. This condition has name and is called POST SSRI SYNDROME. Some call it PSSD, to refer specifically to the sexual symptoms. I have seen 0 improvement. Not even temporarily. I have never had any of these symptoms before. No mental disorder, can cause these symptoms, plus I didn't have any mental disorder. I have done blood tests, hormones test, MRIs, SFN test, and others, and everything has been normal. I have not tried any treatment, because many with this condition get worse. Trying another treatment is gambling with your life. There's many hypotheses of what is happening. Interestingly, Finasteride, Accutane, Lion's Mane, and other substances, can cause similar Syndromes. And yes, of course I've seen many Doctors. And no, I don't think your miraculous diet, or belief, will cure me.

I just read that @ACE_CoalitionEd filed a citizen petition on October 10 asking the @FDA to require postmarketing studies and a national patient registry for SSRIs and SNRIs. The registry would follow patients during and after tapering or stopping these drugs, with separate analyses for SSRIs and SNRIs. According to the petition, the registry and studies should evaluate the incidence, severity, duration and predictors of withdrawal, compare tapering strategies, and assess whether patients are able to reduce their dose or fully stop. Outcomes would include akathisia, self-harm and suicide-related outcomes, persistent sexual symptoms after discontinuation, functional impairment, and longer-term outcomes. The petition also says withdrawal can involve physical, cognitive, emotional, neurologic, sensory, sleep and sexual symptoms, that they can persist after stopping, and that some patients report them starting weeks or months later. This isn't their first one. ACE filed a petition in May 2025 asking for withdrawal warnings and tapering guidance on SSRI and SNRI labels. The FDA still hasn't made a decision on it. A petition on Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction (PSSD) has been pending since 2018. This matters. Right now there's no national registry following people after they stop. @MartyMakary @SecKennedy

These are documented risks of SSRIs. Most people never hear about them before their first prescription. Can last after stopping: - Post-SSRI Syndrome: general numbness. Emotional numbness, anhedonia, chronic fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, aphantasia, memory issues. - Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction (PSSD): genital numbness, loss of libido, erectile problems, weak or pleasureless orgasm. Rubber like genitals. - Visual snow: constant static across your vision. - Withdrawal syndrome (antidepressant discontinuation syndrome): affects a significant share of people who stop, can be severe, and can last months or more than a year - Akathisia: intense inner restlessness, an inability to sit still. While taking it: - Emotional blunting: feeling flat, less able to cry, laugh or care - Suicidal thoughts and behavior: FDA boxed warning for children, teens and young adults under 25 - Serotonin syndrome: potentially life-threatening, higher risk when combined with other serotonergic drugs - Bleeding: higher risk, especially with aspirin, ibuprofen or blood thinners - Hyponatremia (low sodium): confusion, falls, seizures, higher risk in older people - Bone fractures: higher fracture risk, rising with longer use - Mania: can trigger manic episodes in people with bipolar disorder - Angle-closure glaucoma: can set off an attack in people with narrow eye angles - Weight gain I wasn't told about any of them.

I took Escitalopram for only some days, for mild anxiety. Now I live with genital numbness, full body numbness, tingling, and emotional blunting. These are real, documented effects of SSRIs, and most people have never heard of them. It's been more than 2 years, and I've seen 0 improvement...

I do feel more feminine after getting post SSRI syndrome and PSSD (post SSRI sexual dysfunction). And I of course don't like it. I guess the SSRI messes with the hormones and nervous system

I'm not anti-medication. I'm anti "nobody mentioned this could last." It's been 2+ years since Escitalopram, and the reaction I still get most is "I've never heard of that." That's the problem. #PSSD (Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction)

I am condemned to live the rest of my life castrated and with anhedonia, due to me taking an SSRI, for a few days, 2 years ago. I guess it was partly my fault for trusting the medical establishment!

"You'll be fine once you stop." That's what they tell you about SSRIs I stopped. The damage didn't. Over 2 years of Post SSRI Syndrome and PSSD (Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction. I'm still waiting... 0 improvement...

Two years ago I could feel attraction, joy, and connection. After Escitalopram, those feelings are muted or gone. I wasn't warned. Most people aren't. This is Post SSRI Syndrome.

I used to write in a journal almost everyday, before I got PSS (Post SSRI Syndrome). Now due to the cognitive dysfunction and anhedonia, it's hard to do it.

60% of the time, eating is not enjoyable. I've been eating once a day, because I honestly don't like eating. This has been a permanent damage of taking an SSRI more than 2 years ago. My senses and emotions have been permanently numbed. I prefer to do work, than to eat, most of the time. I hate it. I wish I could just inject food. That's how bad the anhedonia is...

Permanent genital numbness. Zero libido. Emotional flatline. All from an antidepressant I took for days, not years. If your doctor has never heard of PSSD (Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction), that doesn't mean it isn't real.

The UK has named PSSD. Now it's time for other regulators to follow: the FDA, the EMA, and agencies in Latin America. Patients everywhere deserve informed consent before starting an antidepressant. #PSSD

If you have Post SSRI Syndrome, you're not crazy and you're not alone. Your symptoms are real, even if your doctor doesn't believe you.

I've been using grok @bot and is amazing. I just wish there where more essential connectors, like SharePoint (there is one but extremely limited) or IMAP emails. Because using the browser, supposedly consumes usage very fast.

If your doctor prescribes you an SSRI, ask them one question: "Can this cause permanent sexual dysfunction?" If they say no, they are not knowledgeable in their field...

SSRIs are marketed as safe and easy to stop. I took a few doses of Escitalopram in 2024. I'm still living with the consequences. Ask questions before you swallow anything.
