We were so irked by a TimeOut piece pronouncing Sri Lanka the safest place for women travelling alone that we wrote our own version. YES, it is comparatively very SAFE, but women on their own can be vulnerable so let's some responsible advice please!

@FCDOtravelGovUK is affecting thousands of travellers who cannot get insurance for non-Red List countries. This becomes an unofficial travel ban. The failure to dovetail with the thrust of Government policy is deeply damaging and unfair. A classic travel policy states this 1/2
It's damagingly confusing & damaging for Sri Lanka and the Maldives to be taken off the red list by the Transport Department but for @FCDOtravelGovUK not to immediately update its advice against "all but essential travel", so invalidating travel insurance. PLEASE realise this!
