π¨ Roy Keane doesnβt hold back:
βI listened to Carrick after the match. Fresh start. Purpose. Good run coming. Brilliant. What about bloody winning a football match?
Seven games, one win.
Thatβs Manchester United weβre talking about.
And weβre supposed to sit there and be encouraged because the manager thinks he saw some positives? I must have watched a different game.
People will say Iβm being harsh on Michael. I said it when they gave him the job: I didnβt think he was the right man.
I said it when he was winning games, so Iβm certainly not changing my mind now because heβs drawn with Leeds.
Being a decent fella and having played for the club doesnβt qualify you to manage Manchester United. Thatβs not how it works.
You look at the team. Brunoβs here, Cunhaβs there, Mbeumoβs up front. Players being shifted about, and for what?
Whatβs the idea? I donβt mind a manager trying something, but when itβs clearly not working, do your job. Change it.
You canβt stand there for 75 minutes watching the same rubbish and then come out talking about a fresh start.
And donβt get me started on the players. Theyβll be disappointed, apparently. Theyβll be hurting.
Good. They should be. Youβd swear running back, winning tackles and making a simple pass were special achievements now.
Theyβre the basics. Youβre being paid to do them.
Someone said to me, βAt least United didnβt lose.β Jesus Christ. Is that what the club has become?
Do United get a point for turning up as well? Leeds get a draw against Manchester United and weβre talking as if United survived some great European side.
Then you look across Manchester. City have won seven out of seven. Arsenal are competing.
Brighton are selling their best players every summer and still playing better football than United. Brighton! And fair play to them, theyβve got people who know what theyβre doing.
Thatβs the embarrassing part. It isnβt luck. Theyβve got a plan.
At United, every six months itβs a new manager, a new system, a new explanation.
The same people upstairs tell you theyβve learned lessons, and six months later weβre having the same bloody conversation.
Whoβs holding them accountable? They appointed Carrick. They built this squad. They canβt keep hiding behind whoeverβs sitting in the dugout.
And I know what people will say. βRoy, youβre always negative.β Negative? One win in seven!
What would you like me to do, congratulate them?
The supporters are spending their money, travelling around the country, watching their rivals fight for titles, and theyβre being asked to applaud a draw at Leeds because the manager saw a bit of spirit.
I want United to win. I want Carrick to prove me wrong. But he has to earn that. I wonβt sit here and lower the standards just because I played with him.
If youβre not good enough, youβre not good enough.
And if the people running Manchester United think this is acceptable, then theyβre an even bigger problem than the manager.β
Oh ffs stop dragging out the inevitable just to make us suffer more. Not like we've suffered enough eh... Of course not!!!!
They must be fucking starving now by now then πππ
π¨π£οΈ Michael Carrick: βThe boys are HUNGRY to play well and HUNGRY to get a GOOD resultβ. #MUFC
Fucking hell what is this crap, we are boring, we are stale. We need fresh ideas we are going nowhere. We are shite do the right thing #ManUtd I beg you β³
Right direction is he having a laugh π
π£οΈ Michael Carrick: "It definitely was [a step in the RIGHT DIRECTION]. If there's any weakness, it gets found out today.
I could feel before the game that the players were ready for it. It wasn't perfect. Our confidence isn't sky-high, but the players were trying to do the right things.
In moments, we looked really good. Defended really well as a team."
Sorry "fresh start" the worrying thing here is Carrick is taking zero accountability for how bad we really are, it's always we are progressing we have to work together blah blah π« We are going absolutely nowhere right now only on the slippery slope to the relegation zone π
Literally can my luck get any worse right finally got chance to watch some of the game tv was on for less than a minute and CL scores for Leeds πππ I've turned it off now ππππ
Right let's go boys and girls πππ 3pts each not much to ask is it. Boys are you listening!!!! #ManUtd
