My friend is a Kalshi dev. He is insanely gifted. We were looking at a functional leaderboard and I asked him what it would cost to build it today. I will never forget his answer… 'We can’t, we don’t know how to do it.'

I think this is a good thing for prediction markets in the long term. We don't need people getting burned by Brian Armstrong rattling off strikes in jest on an earnings call, people submitting questions on a podcast to influence the speaker to say a word, etc. It's a terrible look on prediction markets and part of how we ended up with this CFTC decision. There is a legit community of people who are interested in forecasting things that the President (or other major politicians) will say. Folks have been doing this kind of analysis for a long time, without the financial incentive. I'm happy that it's looking like we at least get to keep that part

I hate ADHD discourse because like. I cant hold a job. I cant go to school. I live in filth. Every day I spiral over my inability to do ANYTHING. And I have to just live knowing that no one believes I have a disability and that my failures are all from not trying hard enough
Fun thing about ADHD us that exists on a spectrum from "I struggle with some executive functions and have symptoms" and "My entire life is a mess" I used to want to kill myself because I couldn't cope with the anxiety from not being able to do my homework or being late to stuff

im convinced one of the big reasons adhd specifically faces this kind of skepticism and dismissiveness is that, as a disability of executive function, it raises questions that threaten to erode the foundations of everything we assume about free will, motivation and responsibility
I got a coworker who claimed she couldn't show up at 9 because she has adhd. She regularly rolled in at 10. Our boss decided that she'd give her a bone and set our core, in-office hours as 10-3. Coworker started rolling up at 11.

This is the Prediction Market equivalent of if Silicon Valley Bank had taken victory laps for getting bailed out by the Fed
Update: Kalshi has canceled the trades and compensated us for this loss as a long, glorious list of $1000 credits

not to be the friend thats too woke but i genuinely think this article is ableist. labeling fidgeting, awkwardness, etc as signs of distrust rather than common behaviors in ppl with adhd/autism/anxiety/etc is extremely shitty
Talking with journalists is cool because you have to make sure you never say anything that could be twisted or taken out of context. But if you take a couple seconds to think about a question, they can just write about you as if you're the most awkward person alive
