🔴🦉Wow, #LincolnCity.

A hat-trick of 1-0 away wins means that Lincoln City have now won more points away from home (nine) than any other side in the Championship so far this season! 🤩

England's only joint managers having Lincoln City in the Championship's top eight is the best story in the EFL so far this season. Some effort.
Following Lincoln City's journey has been a privilege. In the Championship comes something even more fascinating: the only joint-head coaches in English football.
I spent a day with Chris Cohen, Tom Shaw and their staff to tell this brilliant story...

LINCOLN 1-1 #SaintsFC. Saints Slip On the Most Predictable Banana Skin Imaginable
There was something entirely predictable about Southampton’s 1-1 draw at Lincoln. A newly promoted side, a pitch full of enormous human beings, a game increasingly resembling an aerial bombardment — and Saints somehow appeared surprised by the concept of hoofball.
This was exactly the sort of afternoon supporters had been warned about. Lincoln were perfectly happy to turn the match into a competition for possession of the sky, while Saints struggled to impose the slick football that had demolished Millwall last weekend. The result leaves Tonda Eckert’s side with only two points from their two away games this week.
Saints did at least produce one moment of genuine class. Welington unleashed an absolute screamer to put Saints ahead — a goal so good that the puns about Wellington Boots will last all week.
Leo Scienza then produced one of the afternoon’s more remarkable non-goals, somehow hitting both posts with the same shot. It was about the only thing Saints did with any degree of efficiency.
But otherwise, this was poor. Really poor.
Daniel Peretz’s distribution was particularly woeful. Every time the ball went back to the goalkeeper, Saints seemed to enter a collective state of anxiety as he attempted to distribute it somewhere — anywhere — that wasn’t directly to a six-foot-four Lincoln player. Usually into Row Z.
And then there was Divin Mubama.
The striker, introduced from the bench, looked less like a footballer and more like a competition winner who had just been told his prize included 20 minutes on the pitch at Lincoln. Against a defence apparently constructed from scaffolding poles, Saints desperately needed someone capable of occupying the giants. Mubama looked rather more occupied by the occasion himself.
Lincoln eventually got their reward, and there was little argument that they deserved it. The Imps had identified exactly how to make Saints uncomfortable and simply kept doing it.
A point is extremely disappointing when starting from minus 4 and chasing promotion. The manner of it is even more concerning. Saints knew exactly what sort of game this was going to be. They knew Lincoln were physical. They knew they would go direct. They knew this was the banana skin. And they stepped right on it.

Yesterday, Lincoln City won a match in the second tier of English football.
Nothing particularly unusual about that.
Except the last time they did it was in 1961.
Ben House's second-half header gave Lincoln a 1-0 win away at Bolton, securing the club's first victory at this level for 65 years.
The modern rise has been ridiculous.
In 2016/17, Lincoln were still playing non-league football.
That season they won the National League and became the first non-league club in more than a century to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Two years later they won League Two.
Last season they won League One with 103 points and finally returned to the second tier for the first time since 1961.
Their first two Championship games back ended in defeat.
Then they went to Bolton.
House headed in from a long throw after 66 minutes, goalkeeper George Wickens helped keep Bolton out, and Lincoln finally had their win.
Sixty-five years after the last one.
From the National League to winning Championship matches in nine years.
Some rise from Lincoln City.
