NEWS: New York City just recorded the safest summer in its history.
From June through August, NYC saw its fewest shootings, shooting victims, and murders on record. Major crime fell 6.2% year-to-date, murders plunged 24.1%, and the subway had zero murders, shootings, or rapes in August.

A group of neighborhood kids waited for Mayor Zohran Mamdani to finish at the campfire, and the moment he said hello, everything turned into joyful chaos.
There were screams, hugs and autograph requests coming from every direction, and the @nycmayor stopped to spend time with them before leaving Inwood Hill Park.
