Update: I just described the process of "fixing" my CV for the ATS bots as "spoonfeed[ing] these dummy droids" and I said what I said.
Having to retool my CV to be read by machines instead of by humans is leaving me a little...resentful. It's also frustrating to see how opaque the ATS process is. And that's to me, with a pretty high digital literacy skill. It's very foreign to me and a new skill set to develop.
So I did a thing. I heard about Chuck Tingle and the TLA debacle and it gave me a bad case of brain worms. In true hyperfixation form, I was stuck at my desk for 2.5 hrs while I smashed out this blog entry to get the wiggles out. Enjoy I guess?rebeccasrandall.wordpress.co…

The library is writing a book.
It starts with a velociraptor on LSD in a library computer lab.
Who wants to preorder Oh My God These Dinosaurs Are On Drugs and Other Holiday Tales About Dinosaurs on Drugs?
The Cait Corrain apology is giving some real @ContraPoints "Through no fault of my own, I was high on bath salts at the time of the tax evasion, your honor" energy.
Hey gang, I've been quiet on Herr because I've been settling in Vancouver BC. Here for a week now! Today I'm settled at @VPL 's main branch, using my patriotism to improve my ergonomics (please don't take my librarian associate membership away T_T) #WombatInMooseCountry

TIL: there's a URL domain called .university . I'm so used to seeing a short domain in that slot that I had to squint at it and go "Where's the rest of the URL???"
It's that time of year again.... @aliaQLD ALIA's Annual Trivia Night!!! We've got some source-ry happening tonight...let's see if the Last Grads of QUT can reclaim our honour and the trophy!!
Really enjoying Alanah Eade's #NLSX lightning presentation on tips to apply for library jobs when shifting sectors. So much good advice on transferrable skills and don't forget, SPELL IT OUT FOR THEM! <3
It's the eve before my @ALIAnls presentation and I'm pleased to inform Library Twitterland that my slides are much more aesthetically pleasing than the ones I posted the other day. 🍁🍁🍁
Alright Library Twitter do your thing! When I attended #NLS9 @ALIAnls in 2019 I was swapping pins with people. Does anyone recognise this tiny Canadian flag? I'd like to reconnect with you :) ppl who might have a lead on this include @maybe_sparrow @jesspietsch + @saoghal_beag
When you've got a fire idea for a work outfit but the shirt hasn't been ironed and you don't have time to address it....can wrinkly sleeves be in vogue today please?
It's 7 weeks and 2 days to go in the #CountdownToCanada, but I felt compelled to put some of my chatchkis out after moving offices a few weeks ago. I'm still debating making a poster board for all my postcards, and "washing line" for my lanyards.

Had an executive librarian tell a group not to have Adult Graphic Novels in their collections as they were too much hassle with all the challenges going on.
Been thinking a lot about a rare interaction I had with a member of the public a few weeks ago. Decided that was probably a sign to blog about it.
tl;dr - kids scare me because they see right through you, but it's never as bad as I think it could be.

I'm very fortunate that I work under managers who get that these sorts of accommodations are quite reasonable. 🙏
Super secret squirrel spoiler alert! The slides are coming together for my presentation. And with 8 minutes to talk, I think these 3 slides are pretty much the crux of it all.
Please hold your applause til the end of the show. (Hope to see y'all at 12:54pm AEST on July 29!)

ALT A screenshot of three powerpoint slides. The first one reads "Introduction: I'm an idiot and always have to do things the hard way. How's that working out?". The second reads "Literature review - Oh the Places You Will Go!: See, these folks get it.". The third reads "Methodology: Just stumbling my way through it really.".
