The government proposes wiping out the entire NOK 5.6 million museum grant to Fortidsminneforeningen. That money funds the professional work of preserving and presenting up to 40 of the country’s most important cultural monuments, including UNESCO-listed Urnes, plus Borgund, Hopperstad, Torpo, Uvdal and Nore stave churches, Steinvikholm Castle and Sakshaug old church.
The association says the cut will hit both physical upkeep and public dissemination of these sites.
At the same time, Norway poured NOK 1.75 billion into Palestine in 2025 alone and spent NOK 58.9 billion on foreign aid overall. Priorities are clear: Norwegian heritage can decay while the money keeps flowing abroad.

UPDATE: Alonzo Mabry is dead.
In March, the 62-year-old was using a computer at Austin's Central Library when the man next to him, Daniel Vasquez, stood up, hit him in the head, and stomped on his skull while he lay unconscious. Then Vasquez went back to his computer.
Mabry died in hospice and Vasquez was charged with murder last week.
Before the library, Vasquez had punched a CapMetro bus driver in the mouth. That was dismissed by prosecutors.
He also punched a mother in the face in front of her 11-year-old son, then punched the woman who tried to stop him. Those were also dismissed.
DA Jose Garza's office sent him to a six-month rehab program instead. He finished in June 2025 and every charge was wiped and he went back to the street.
AUSTIN MAN walks up to a stranger using a computer on the fourth floor of the Central Library, punches him in the head so hard he's knocked out of his chair, stomps on his head multiple times while he lies unconscious on the floor -- then calmly walks back to his own computer and sits down.

On a city bus in 2024, Vasquez threatened an 11-year-old boy, cocked his leg back to kick him full-force, then stood up and punched the kid's mother in the face. She's a Spanish speaker and couldn't even understand the threats. A female bystander tackled Vasquez to protect them. He punched her in the head repeatedly. All was on video.
Child endangerment charge and two assaults charges. Dismissed.
Six months before that, he punched a CapMetro bus driver in the mouth hard enough to cause a bloody laceration. During the arrest, he called an officer a racial slur and spit directly in his face. Felony harassment of a public servant. Dismissed to "pre-trial diversion."
He also had a felony terroristic threat against a public servant. Also dismissed.

Kavan Vishnubhai Patel was arrested in Florida after allegedly intentionally running over and KILLING Hunter Russey with his car before fleeing the scene.
Patel is an Indian-born visa holder from Canada who was issued his U.S. visa in December of 2024.

Welfare office worker accused of stealing $20k in food stamps and trading EBT cards for crack.
Sheila McDonald, 46, was the EBT coordinator at a Pennsylvania welfare office.
Her job was to keep the EBT cards secure.
She allegedly activated 48 cards meant for families.
Those cards were used 270+ times for $20,558 in food benefits.
Video allegedly shows her using 1 family's card to shop and take out cash.
A witness says she paid him in EBT cards and PINs to buy crack.
She's charged with 6 felonies.
