I remember reading The Diary of Anne Frank and Hiroshima in school. They made me feel uncomfortable because that’s a normal human response to seeing people suffer. The idea that white children are entitled to be shielded from facts in order to avoid “discomfort” is laughable.
A teacher in South Carolina was reported by her students for teaching Ta-Nehisi Coates’s “Between the World and Me.”
The students explained that the book made them ashamed to be White, violating a clause forbidding teachers from making students “feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress” on race

Yesterday, the viral video was of a mom chewing out a teacher over a pride flag being hung up over a USA map.
