What a lovely weekend we had at the NHT Summit in Ireland! It was such a pleasure to meet so many wonderful people, from familiar faces and existing customers to new visitors stopping by for a chat. We also really enjoyed meeting fellow exhibitors and traders, sharing ideas, learning about their businesses and making some lovely new connections. There's something special about attending events like these. It's always nice to step away from the office, meet people face to face and have some really interesting conversations. A big thank you to everyone who came over to see us and to the organisers for putting together such a wonderful event. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Ireland and look forward to seeing everyone again soon! CURCUMIN: MORE THAN THE GOLDEN COLOUR OF TURMERIC Turmeric has been used for centuries, but one of its most fascinating natural compounds is curcumin — the bright yellow polyphenol responsible for much of turmeric’s distinctive colour. Today, curcumin is one of the most widely researched plant compounds, particularly for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. So why has it attracted so much attention? Inflammation is a normal and important part of the body’s natural response. The problem is when inflammatory processes become prolonged or poorly regulated. This is one reason researchers have become so interested in compounds such as curcumin and the ways they interact with pathways involved in the inflammatory response. Curcumin is also studied for its antioxidant activity. Antioxidants help protect cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals — something our bodies encounter every day through normal metabolism as well as environmental and lifestyle factors. But there’s an important catch… Curcumin is naturally difficult for the body to absorb. Eating turmeric is a wonderful way to include this spice in your diet, but curcumin itself has relatively poor bioavailability. It is poorly absorbed and is rapidly metabolised and eliminated from the body. This is why, when choosing a curcumin supplement, the delivery system can be just as important as the number of milligrams on the label. Different formulations have been developed to improve curcumin's absorption and bioavailability, including lipid-based and other enhanced-delivery forms. So when you're comparing curcumin supplements, don't just ask: “How much curcumin does it contain?” Also ask: “What form of curcumin is it — and how has it been formulated for absorption?” Sometimes, the most important part of a supplement isn't the biggest number on the label. #Curcumin #Turmeric #CurcumaLonga #NaturalHealth #NaturalWellbeing #PlantBasedWellness #Antioxidants #Inflammation #HealthyLiving #HealthAndWellness #Nutrition #Wellness #SupplementEducation #HealthyLifestyle #TheReallyHealthyCompany

The true price of eggs is paid by those who never get the chance to grow up. 🐣💔 Male chicks are killed because they cannot lay eggs, while female chicks are born into a system that treats their bodies as production units. 🐥 And no “free-range” or “cage-free” label changes that reality. There is no kinder way to exploit animals. Reject the system, choose vegan. 🌱 📸 boltonchickensave (IG) | @farmtr_project   #eggs #freerangeeggs #vegan

RED RASPBERRY LEAF – MORE THAN JUST THE BERRY When we think of raspberries, most of us picture the sweet red fruit. But herbalists have been interested in another part of the plant for centuries — the leaves. Red raspberry (Rubus idaeus) has a surprisingly long history in European herbal traditions, with records of the leaves being used medicinally in Europe dating back many centuries. Traditionally, raspberry leaf has been prepared as a tea or infusion and became particularly associated with women’s herbal practice. Herbal texts have also recorded its traditional use for digestion and as an astringent preparation for the mouth and throat. What makes the history particularly interesting is that raspberry leaf hasn't disappeared from modern herbalism. It continues to feature in herbal literature and is recognised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) as a traditional herbal substance. However, traditional use isn't the same as proven clinical benefit. The EMA notes that clinical research on raspberry leaf is limited, so many of its uses remain rooted in herbal tradition rather than strong modern clinical evidence. For anyone interested in exploring its herbal history further: 🌿 European Medicines Agency – Raspberry Leaf A useful evidence-based overview of its traditional use: ema.europa.eu/en/medicines/h… 🌿 Dr Sharol Tilgner – Herbalist Her raspberry leaf monograph discusses how the herb has traditionally been used by herbal practitioners: youarethehealer.org/herbal-m… 🌿 Traditional Medicinals – Herbal Education An accessible look at raspberry leaf from a modern herbalist perspective: traditionalmedicinals.com/bl… Sometimes the most ordinary plants have the longest stories. 🌿 #RedRaspberryLeaf #RaspberryLeaf #Herbalism #HerbalTradition #MedicinalPlants #PlantHistory #HerbalEducation #TraditionalHerbalism

A homage to Professor Teruo Higa There are some people whose work changes the way you look at the world. Professor Teruo Higa is one of those people for me. His story began, not with a grand plan, but with curiosity, persistence and a simple observation. After years of experimenting with individual microorganisms, Prof. Higa noticed something unexpected. Different microbial cultures, collected together and scattered onto a patch of grass, seemed to have a remarkable effect. The grass flourished. It was a small observation, but it led to a much bigger idea: perhaps microorganisms do not always work best in isolation. Perhaps, when the right ones are brought together, they can work in harmony. Through years of experimentation in the field, this became the foundation of EM ...... Effective Microorganisms and the wider philosophy of EM Technology. What I love about Professor Higa's work is that it challenges the idea that nature always needs to be controlled or dominated. Instead, it asks us to understand the relationships between living systems and to work with them. That philosophy is at the heart of Micromax. Micromax is our live ecosystem in a bottle, inspired by the pioneering work of Professor Higa and the world of beneficial microorganisms he opened up to us. For me, this is more than a product story. It is a philosophy that I find incredibly compelling: support the ecosystem rather than trying to control it. Sometimes the smallest observation can lead to a much bigger idea. Thank you, Professor Higa, for looking at the world differently. #TeruoHiga #EffectiveMicroorganisms #EMTechnology #Micromax #Microbiome #Fermentation #ScienceAndNature #Sustainability

From traditional kefir to Japanese fermentation: meet Rice Kefiran Fermented foods have been part of our diets for centuries, and today they are attracting renewed interest as scientists learn more about the relationship between fermentation, the gut microbiome and health. Kefir is one of the best-known examples. This traditional fermented milk drink originated in the Caucasus region, where kefir grains containing communities of microorganisms were used to ferment milk. Daiwa Pharmaceutical saw potential in one particular bacterium found in kefir grains: Lactobacillus kefiranofaciens. After eight years of research and development, Daiwa established a method of cultivating this bacterium using rice as its nutritional source rather than milk. The result was Rice Kefiran. Rice Kefiran brings together two important food traditions — rice and fermentation. It is produced by cultivating L. kefiranofaciens in a rice-based medium and contains components associated with the fermentation process, including kefiran, a polysaccharide produced by the bacterium, and lactic acid. What makes the story particularly interesting is the science behind it. Daiwa has investigated Rice Kefiran and its components in areas including: • the intestinal environment and gut microbiota • immune function • metabolic health • liver function • the biological properties of kefiran Research is continuing, and the strength of evidence varies between these areas, so these should not be interpreted as claims that Rice Kefiran can prevent or treat disease. It is a fascinating example of how researchers have taken inspiration from a centuries-old fermented food and combined it with Japanese rice and modern fermentation technology. We are looking forward to meeting you all at the Yes to Life event this Saturday - Pop by to say Hi Event Details 9:00 am until 6:30 pm £105 conference.yestolife.org.uk/ This year’s conferences focus in on the deeper forces at work affecting our overall longevity and, therefore of great importance to anyone faced with a diagnosis of cancer. It has now been recognised that although factors such as diet and exercise are crucial elements to any lifestyle recovery programme, the effect of these will be seriously undermined if issues such as chronic stress, unresolved trauma, poor social connections and loneliness, disconnection from nature and its rhythms, or fundamental lack of purpose are not addressed. Our speakers will explore the science behind these findings and the available resources and support to embrace the changes required to reclaim our true nature. For 2026, Yes to Life is combining forces with Dr Sam Watts of Mind-Body Medical to build two groundbreaking programmes that aim to elevate awareness of the importance of non-physical factors in cancer survivorship. While it has long been felt by many that these factors are of supreme relevance to the many cases of exceptional survivorship, this has now become a matter of scientific understanding, as the research continues to confirm the many ways in which non-physical factors can undermine our physical health – and of course, conversely – can positively impact outcomes.
