Screenings are so important to providing every student what they need. Once you know where the weakness is you can find the skills that are the cause of the problem and remediate them. #structuredliteracy

Law enforcement has the authority to disperse assemblies that violate these laws and make arrests if individuals refuse to comply
1
31
While individuals have a right to protest and assemble peacefully under the First Amendment, these rights are subject to "reasonable time, place, and manner" restrictions [1]. This means that protests cannot infringe on public safety or block essential infrastructure like roads.

52
In the United States, you generally do not have a right to block a public road to prevent someone from doing their job [1, 2].  Blocking public roads or public right-of-ways is typically illegal under various federal, state, and local laws, and can result in criminal charges

A school without a solid, consistent curriculum from year-to-year is a rudderless educational ship.

Small group should be based in text, but not every student is ready for connected text or chapter books. Some need decodable text, or grade level fluency passages to build the skills necessary for connected text.

Had a great learning experience at LETRS Applied. Data holds the key to improvement. #Lexia #LETRS

You are either part of a solution or part of the problem

Hear it, say it, read it, write it! If you want students to build their sight word reading base, then they need to do these 4 things with as many words AND as many times as possible.

Lucky enough to get to coach some of the teachers who I am facilitating LETRS for. All too often we give teachers great info like from LETRS, but we never support their classroom implementation. Teachers need BOTH!

I have been reading about the ire over not reading whole books. Tier1 texts should be quality stories and books meant to be read and re-read for quality comp. Instruction. Small group is where they need more trade books and chapter books to practice applying the skill from Tier1.

This is a reminder that small group instruction should be text based not activity based. Whether it is predictable text for high frequency words, decodable text for phonics/fluency or connected text and chapter books for vocab/comp, students need to read text to build a skill

Our youngest readers should start with words (they can decode) and sentences with high frequency words and decodable words

Three years ago I became employed at a school that was moving to SoR. They were the oddball in a district of BL. My “crazy” ideas were met with eye rolls and humphs of disagreement among some districts leaders. This week I was invited back to help implement those “crazy” ideas

Parents your child does NOT need another game, toy, or electronic device. What they need in this new year is quality time with you. Talk to them, play with them, read with them. Do family things together and have experiences. #buildingreaders #buildingfamilies #happynewyear

Tier 2 (small group reading) should be text based. From words and sentences for our earliest K to decodables, fluency passages, grade level connected text, and chapter books. If it is not your students will not make the gains they are capable of making. #SoR
