A South African billionaire worth nearly $500 billion wants to cut Social Security and Medicare for American seniors—many of whom are surviving on an average of just $762 a month. Let that sink in. The richest man on Earth, who pays little to no taxes, thinks your grandmother’s medicine and your grandfather’s check are the problem—not corporate greed, not tax breaks for the wealthy, not trillion-dollar war budgets. This level of wickedness is staggering.

Watch #GrassyNarrows talk about their decades of struggle for Justice and the fights still to come #FreeGrassy
For decades, Grassy Narrows has deterred logging and mining operations in their territory. Recently, a site nearby was chosen for nuclear waste. Judy Da Silva says the mounting threats over the years equates to environmental racism. Something in the Water - Watch here: youtu.be/dLT-PbhZNBE

The RCMP unreasonably blocked media access and arbitrarily detained a Gitxsan reporter five years ago in a raid on Wet’suwet’en-led blockades in B.C., the force's review body says. The RCMP's conduct was "imperious, ill-considered, and arguably unlawful." cbc.ca/news/indigenous/rcmp-…

Addition by subtraction. When subsidized Manitoba Housing units are sold to the private sector. When slum landlords let their buildings decay. When low rent hotels burn down or are demolished. The number of homes available to low income renters declines, adding to the numbers 1/2

A First Nation in northern Ontario living under the longest boil water advisory in Canada is about to hit a grim milestone. February 1 marks 30 years without safe drinking water for Neskantaga First Nation, an anniversary the chief says is unconscionable. youtu.be/FraFL-ydUqA

Canada was ordered to end its discrimination toward All First Nations children and then tried to get out of the orders by negotiating an agreement without consulting First Nations or their experts especially outside Ontario. The agreement announced a lot of money and sounded good until you read the fine print (I.e.: secret govenance without regional representation and the announced money was time limited, had lots of strings attached and was subject to Canada’s undefined approval processes each year). No surprise it was not approved by First Nations nationally who set out a plan to negotiate a more effective, fair and inclusive agreement. Read our analysis and call on the feds to stop playing games and negotiate in good faith to end its discrimination for all First Nations children.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has filed criminal complaints in France and Belgium saying that Apple's supply chain is contaminated with "blood minerals". Their lawyers argue Apple is complicit in crimes committed by armed groups that control mines. bbc.in/4gBVaUo

“In New York, a mother with no history of drug use lost custody of her toddler & newborn for 5 months after she tested positive for fentanyl that the hospital had given her in her epidural.” This state-sanctioned violence inflicts a very specific form of trauma that people don’t often recover from. themarshallproject.org/2024/…

How hypocritical is it for white evangelicals to declare the abortions of 60 Million babies since 1973 as America’s great sin, yet tell us to ‘get over’ white people murdering 55 Million indigenous people through violence and disease and 70 Million Africans in the transatlantic slave trade?
