Excuse ME, but during the onboarding process my facilitator was VERY CLEAR that in this role we would FIRE NO GUNS, and also that we would SHED NO TEARS. I distinctly remember asking about those aspects.

I’ve been slow to adopt AI chat for anything useful, but it did just talk me into replacing a dying universal remote with an e-ARC configuration. I had all the experiences, including the verging feeling I was offloading all my thinking to it…

Me: [minor audio problem] sure is goofy, I wonder if I should fiddle with the audio settings… Gemini: this is a common problem try forcing the tv to output PCM sound. Me: …such as that one… (And yes that was the right setting)

Too good to check: monetizing empty seats at weddings so vetted strangers can have a fun night out.
This is awesome 😂 This sounds insane until you’ve been on enough date nights where you spend $250 to discuss the kids’ schedules in a different building. The backstory is pretty great! A married couple in San Diego wanted to get dressed up and go to a wedding. Problem was, they’d reached the age where nobody they knew was getting married anymore. So they built a website where you can buy tickets to strangers’ weddings. And the economics actually make sense. The couple getting married has already committed to a venue minimum. Someone cancels. Now there’s an empty chair and a dinner they’re paying for either way. Meanwhile, another couple would happily pay to eat, dance, have some cake and watch a best man make a series of increasingly questionable decisions with a microphone. The hosts approve the guests. Guests verify their IDs. Everybody agrees to the arrangement. Which is arguably more vetting than your cousin’s new boyfriend received. Apparently one bride said the paying strangers brought so much energy to the dance floor that she wished she’d invited more. Of course they did. Those people specifically bought tickets to be there. Half your actual guests are attending under a treaty negotiated between their mothers. I love businesses like this. Find something people already paid for but can’t fully use. Find someone else who wants it. Make the introduction. This guy just wanted to take his wife dancing and accidentally identified a liquidity problem in the wedding market. Cue Vince Vaughn!

If you’re wondering if people ever read your profile bio here on X, the everything app, I have had what I think is a pretty good Easter egg hidden in mine for at least a year, and nobody has commented on it.

The new Tesla Roadster (coming soon, er, 2028…) is the perfect supercar. All supercars are fundamentally absurd; the Roadster is by far the most absurd.

The median supercar has the problem that it is too fast to enjoy on public roads. You can enter your favorite corner with zero drama at absurd speeds and…it doesn’t test the car. The limits are so high that approaching them on the street madness. On the track, it’s worse…

Yes your million dollar Lamberarri Panigsegg can drop a mean lap time…which will be beat handily by a Radical SR3, a race car you can buy for $100k (good used options readily available for less), which will cost far less to run, too.

The “worst” Nobel Peace Prize winners are actually the best use of the prize. The committee frequently offers the gong as a treat to villains who end a conflict, and offering social status for peace is very groovy.

Yes I would support giving a peace prize to Putin and Zelenskyy if they find a truce; I’d hope that is unsubtly and credibly on the table.

It’s the stupidest car I’ve ever seen. It’s the only supercar that I’ve ever really wanted.
BREAKING: Tesla's Roadster flips off a ramp and hovers back to the ground. "Flying cars are real."

I wish this was a joke. I own a 16-45, 18-50, 16-85, 35, 40, 50, 50…all in K-mount. But someone’s selling the 35 macro Limited for a nice price…

A soft side effect of the new BC time (non-)change is that Microsoft Bookings is buggy. MS says an update will be out in a few weeks. As much as I’d like to blame Eby, the fault here is Microsoft’s; this wasn’t a surprise change.
