After a decade, I've decided to step back from the industry and wind down @avantgardefi to start a new chapter.
We began in 2019 as the core development team for @enzymefinance in the middle of a brutal bear market, when building in this space took real conviction. Over several versions, we helped Enzyme become self-sustaining, and it's been a joy to watch it grow into one of the fastest-growing fund tokenization platforms today.
From there, we evolved into curators and treasury managers for some of the most respected names in the space, including @compoundfinance, @gitcoin, @SuperRare, @NEARProtocol , @decentraland, @graphprotocol and many others. Our team oversaw hundreds of millions in transactions and TVL and kept our clients safe through one of the toughest years for #DeFi security we've seen.
None of that happens without an exceptional team. Every one of them brought talent, integrity & genuine care to the work. If you're hiring, they are some of the best people I know, and I'd be glad to make introductions.
What I'll miss most is the daily interaction with people. This industry has given me some of the smartest, most generous and most driven people I've ever met, and many of them have become friends. I've loved building alongside you all, through the bear markets and the bull runs.
To our clients, investors and partners: thank you for your trust. It has truly been a privilege 🙏
I'll be taking some time before deciding what comes next but please stay in touch.

Tokenisation is not for for providing tokenised versions of Google and Meta.
It is to help companies and entrepreneurs raise capital in markets where tradfi does not serve them.
The popular version of the tokenisation story is investor access, which solves half the problem.
The other half is companies that cannot reach capital markets at all.
Bitfinex Securities is focused on connecting them to a global pool of investors.

This new technical deep dive from the Near One team breaks down SPICE, Separation of Consensus and Execution.
SPICE is a significant architectural upgrade for NEAR Protocol that decouples transaction ordering, data availability, and execution. Execution moves off the critical path of block production, so the chain can produce blocks at a high rate while execution and data availability run asynchronously.
When SPICE launches, NEAR will have faster blocks, lower latency across near.com and NEAR Intents, and support for longer-running, more complex transactions. It also lays the groundwork for atomic execution across shards.

thanks to @rbentien and @LyrikVentures for backing us early and the shoutout on Bloomberg.

News: We’re moving NFX to self-funded. Taking it private. No more external LP’s after fund IV. The four GP’s stay intact. 8 more big seed investments to make in Fund IV, so hit us up. After that, we'll be doing $100K - $3M investments w/ our own money. Thanks to @homebrew who led the way! @NFX @GigiLevy @peteflint @omri_drory

Now that NEAR is catching a bid, one of the most interesting and undervalued assets is probably $mpDAO from Liquid Staking provider @meta_pool
mpDAO has several features that make it interesting:
- Use mpDAO to assign additional delegation to your validator (juicy as price of NEAR goes up)
- Floor Price and Automatic Buybacks w. protocol fees
( ~2x current price)
- Earn a share of protocol fees, paid out monthly in mpDAO
- Active decentralised governance, I've made several proposals myself (that passed)
The thesis for liquid staking is simple; as price of NEAR goes up, people can borrow against their Liquid Staked NEAR (stNEAR) so they can capture the upside + staking rewards
mpDAO is available on @rhea_finance. NFA. DYO.

*** ECB LAUNCHES WHOLESALE DIGITAL EURO TODAY ***
The ECB has launched Pontes today.
It is effectively the “digital euro made available for banks” so they can effectively settle transactions with each other using tokenized assets and distributed ledger technology (DLT).
It connects market DLT platforms to the Eurosystem’s existing TARGET settlement services so tokenized deals can be settled in central bank money.
It is worth reiterating that the ECB has been considering major public blockchains like Ethereum or Solana (source: FT) for the launch of the Digital Euro in the past.
The retail Digital Euro is expected to be piloted from mid-2027 onwards.

Previously when you built on NEAR - you had only NEAR users to target. Same for any other chain.
Now with Intents Connect you can just build apps that target user with any wallet and assets on any chain.
Chain Abstraction achieved. Best time to build.

Our second round was rough. I think I pitched every VC on the planet. Some of the weirder ones:
- I arrive at a Chinese VC firm on Sand Hill Road. The building is locked, lights off, nobody inside. I wait 10 minutes after meeting time. A car pulls up. The partner emerges, she has a large pack of toilet paper under one arm. She unlocks the building, turns on the lights, leads me inside. She disappears into the toilets with her rolls of paper. Then, toilets attended to, we start the pitch.
- Offices of a small deep tech investor. Receptionist greets me and leads me to the meeting room. I set up, wait, wait, wait. Eventually someone walks in, invites me to start. Something feels a bit off. It gradually dawns on me that I am pitching the receptionist. The partner had double-booked herself and apparently decided this was preferable to rescheduling.
- Pitching a London VC. He tells me he likes me as a founder but my business will never work. I've never had someone say this before, usually VCs like to preserve optionality. But he's very explicit. "You might close this round, but you will just waste a year or two of your life and then fail, this idea can't work"
A month later, I get a message from him. "I hear (big name) invested, can we get into your round?". Dude, seriously?
- Another London VC. I'm chatting to the associate while we're waiting for the partner to arrive. He tells me about one of their portfolio cos that needs a bridge round, he's working on squeezing them as much as possible. He's quite direct about it. Eh.. thanks for the transparency I guess, you seem like a great firm.
- The all time weirdest. A French VC with a London office. The associate meets me, as we're going up to the meeting he says something about how the partner can be a little unconventional. We start the pitch.
"What did your father do?" the partner asks me in a thick French accent. OK, this is a new one. I say he trained as a theoretical physicist, but then went into business. "Aha! Your father was a failure!"
"What did your mother do?" I say she was a biochemist and then became a school teacher. "Also a failure!" he exclaims. The associate is visibly dying inside. Is this some strange test, or is he just an asshole? I have a hundred employees and we need funding. "Would you like to hear about my company?" I ask him.
I was once pitching in a board room at a top 3 VC firm for a $15M Series A.
12 people in the meeting. One of the GPs fully fell asleep. Out cold for 30+ minutes. Nobody acknowledged it. Everyone just kept going.
I kept presenting my Series A slides to an unconscious man in a Herman Miller chair and somehow that was considered normal. That's venture capital.
You might fly across the country to perform for people who may or may not be conscious.
It's a dance.
And sometimes you lead and sometimes you follow and sometimes your partner is unconscious.
If you're raising right now, just know: every founder has a story like this. The process is weird. The power dynamic is weird. You're not crazy for thinking it's weird.
No one talks about it because they want to continue raising. But I'm happy to stick my neck out there.
It is weird.

Institutional tokenisation succeeds when compliance, issuance, lifecycle management, and cross-chain movement are designed as integrated infrastructure, not a bolt-on.
The recent pilots connecting public blockchains to traditional settlement rails, alongside continued product expansion from major managers, underscore why purpose-built, regulated frameworks matter.
