Enjoyed 2 sunny days but that’s about to be over. I guess it wouldn’t be a trip to the Seattle area without some rain.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Property taxes means you will never own your home. When you pay off the mortgage, you’re just renting from the government.
Mortgage Servicer: "Your monthly house payment is going up by $410 starting next month."
You: "My fixed-rate mortgage is locked at 3.5%. How is my payment increasing?"
Mortgage Servicer: "Your escrow account has a shortage due to rising property tax assessments and regional home insurance premiums."
You: "So my actual home loan principal and interest didn't change?"
Mortgage Servicer: "Correct. Your mortgage rate is fixed, but your mandatory escrow obligations are variable."
You: "I paid off $18,000 in principal this year. Why is my monthly cost higher than when I bought the house?"
Mortgage Servicer: "Because your local government reassessed your home's paper value and your insurer doubled your rate."
Fixed-rate mortgages are a complete optical illusion.
You don't just pay the bank for the house, you pay an ever-increasing local tax and private insurance subscription just to keep the keys.

If Mitch is alive, he’s living my dream of disappearing but still getting paid. If he’s dead, well, he’s not living my dream.
Where are you, Mitch?!
Looking forward to seeing this on @netflix someday
Consider this a preview of Maryland’s FAMLI program.
🚨 SOCIAL SECURITY: The retirement trust fund is now projected to run dry in late 2032.
If Congress keeps doing nothing, payroll taxes would cover only 78% of promised benefits — an automatic 22% cut.
Washington has known this was coming for decades.
Before demanding another giant tax hike, maybe Congress should explain why it waited until millions of retirees were staring at a cliff.
At a time when everyone is struggling to afford their bills, our state government will take more out of their paychecks
From @FOXBaltimore - “Maryland workers will soon see a new deduction from their paychecks as the state prepares to launch its Family and Medical Leave Insurance program, known as FAMLI. (Passed way back in 2023 and delayed) beginning Jan. 1, 2027…For someone earning $75,000 a year, the employee contribution would amount to about $337.50 annually.
State Sen. Justin Ready argues the additional payroll cost comes at the wrong time. ‘It’s going to really hurt people who are right on the edge economically and take money out of their paycheck every week for something that they might get a chance to avail themselves of at some point, but they’ll be paying all the time,” Ready said.” Full story below ->
This should immediately raise red flags 🚩
