(1/6) Glad you’re here @hassanrahim. Yes your reaction is correct. The reason people suddenly want to talk about this is that the cost of production is at the floor. Now that we can will anything into existence with the new tools, the people with the best “taste” are seen as more valuable to organizations than they have ever been. The fallacy is that “taste” is being treated as a credential you can sell. But the fallacy is that “taste” now means something that can be sold and not something that is unique.
ok genuine question and i’m not being obtuse — what is the whole discourse around “taste” right now?
i’ve only ever worked in the creative industry so taste is literally a prerequisite, never really discussed bc you would otherwise not be in the room
so is this “taste” conversation happening bc the world is now run by engineers who are trying to “solve” creativity?
also what the fuck is a moat?
i’m sorry
Hey @glauberxyz, will there be any open submission opportunities on Curater coming up? I’d love to contribute.
Someone talk me out of this. I am thinking of setting up a workflow to scrape 40,000 odd posts on viewmore.co and file all into @AREdotNA…
2002 is so back. @justinmaller cooked (and is still cooking) on bringing @Depthcore back to life. Can't wait for y'all to see it. If you're an artist feeling nostalgic and just want to make great art with great people, ping me.
I've shamefully slept on @floraai all this time since early beta. Love how I can move and work within it.
Bots are getting faces. Three benchmarks already showed how. Lovebytes, 2007. @universalevery and @toxi grew 20,000 furry monsters, each named, each on its own postcard. Nokia Friends, 2008. Same team. Two dots for eyes. The personality is all in the motion.
PlusPlus, 2012. @michaelcplace & team with Edik Katykhin and @animadetv. A kit of shapes with eyes and a mouth that swaps colour, shape and expression. Not a logo, a cast. Put the three together and you have the brief for your bots. Design the rules, not the mascot.
Got myself a new keyboard, ATK's Yogo 75 Pro. It is sweet and the switches are so smooth. Had to reorient myself though as the keys sit a touch to the left compared to Work Louder's Nomad[E].

I've been building layout engines and grid systems my entire career, and the latest leap in model capabilities finally feels like it has set me free.
This prototype explores a thesis I wrote in 2019 on “structured randomization”: generating layouts within a strict set of rules, including a column grid, padding, safe space and an underlying pixel grid. The model can only play within those boundaries.
The result is 180+ variations I can quickly scan, compare, and use to make more deliberate design decisions myself.
My first real use of @typesafeai’s Jev was to sort some of my catch-all channels on @AREdotNA into their own sub-channels. Insanely economical and quick. Ran it paired with Grok 4.7 for the occasional image analysis.
"We sorted your Are.na channels with Jev. 943 unfiled blocks from Illustration, 3D, Photography, Branding, Typography, Clothing, and Resources into the child channels that already fit them."
I've got this nasty cough at the moment. Yesterday over dinner, our 18-month-old boy copied my coughing fit and signed to Mum, "Dada needs water." The roles have reversed. It's usually me pushing his water bottle towards him when he's coughing. Growth and language is wild.
