In Bihar’s Darbhanga, a religious crowd carrying a body for burial allegedly abandoned the usual route and, in their hundreds, tried to pass through the standing crop of a poor Hindu farmer. When the poor Paswan farmer saw that an entire year of his hard work could be destroyed within minutes, he called the police for help. Even after the police arrived, the crowd allegedly insisted on leaving the original route and passing through the farmer’s field. When the police refused to let them do so, the victim card started being played on social media. Now several accounts are trying to portray the incident as: “Look, Muslims were not allowed to reach the graveyard,” while leaving out the real issue. The victim card is being played, but what they won’t tell you is that a poor Hindu farmer stood with the police simply to save his standing crop from being destroyed.
