Polymarket Is Not a Poll shaunrickardformayor.ca/news…
Setting the record straight - Read the article
A betting website is being mistaken for a Pickering poll. It isn't one. Here's what those "odds" really are, how little money is behind them, and why they shouldn't decide anyone's vote.
Many residents seem to be under the impression that Polymarket is a Pickering poll. It is not. In the past few days, I've received two emails and several direct messages from residents who told me they had planned to vote for me, but saw that Polymarket listed me with a 2% chance of winning. Some of the other candidates are listed with similarly low numbers. These residents felt that a vote for me would be a wasted vote.
I understand why. A percentage next to a candidate's name looks official. But before anyone changes their vote because of it, here's what you need to know.
1. Polymarket is a betting site, not a survey
Polymarket is an online prediction market. People bet real money on the outcome of events, from sports games to elections around the world. The percentage next to each Pickering candidate isn't the share of voters who support them. It's the price of a bet. If a "Yes" share on a candidate sells for 2 cents, the site displays that candidate at about 2%.
Nobody is asking Pickering voters anything. There's no sample of residents, no check of who is placing the bets or where they live, no published method and no margin of error. A bettor in another country has exactly the same say in those numbers as a voter on Liverpool Road.

🚨The RCMP raid on Lion Electric is just the tip of the iceberg—the real machine behind it is far more sinister.
The Canada Infrastructure Bank is a banking cartel creation, wired straight into the WEF's "blended finance" scheme—and It's quietly siphoning BILLIONS from Canadian taxpayers.
And almost no one has a clue.

Caledon, Ontario:
The Cheltenham Badlands north of Brampton is no longer an enjoyable destination for regular Canadians. Many people sneak in by parking in the disabled spots and even on the sidewalks to avoid admission. Garbage receptacles and toilets can’t keep up with the influx of gate crashers. Trails are full of obnoxiously loud groups of people and litter. Another once great spot ruined.

💥REPORT: MP Arpan Khanna claims a violent crime happens every 51 seconds in Canada.
Canada's violent crime crisis stems from immigration—and Khanna is an immigration lawyer who runs his political office like an immigration consultancy.

Albertains have literally no say in any federal election - their vote is meaningless. Nothing but a token after the election has already been decided.
They literally get no say in the federal leadership of Canada.
And when a vote actually could shape their future, they voted for more of the same meaninglessness. They would have put themselves in a position of negotiating power. For the first time ever, they would have had a say in how they're treated and been able to push back on the blatant mistreatment they endlessly endure.
75% of Albertains are fuckin morons. Sheep for the slaughter.
Incredible.
Enjoy the ride.

RECESS IS OVER.
For four years, Pickering residents have watched shouting matches, walkouts, recesses and 6-1 votes at City Hall, while taxes rose and big decisions moved ahead without them. I put it all together in my City Hall Mayhem video, the one I was told to take down. It showed what many of you already knew: Council chambers without order, direction or leadership.
Some have said a long string of 6-1 votes proves you're fighting for residents. I see it differently. Losing the same vote over and over isn't a badge of honour. It shows an inability to build agreement and get anything done. A Mayor has to lead, bring Council together and deliver results. And when it mattered most, on bringing Frenchman's Bay into public hands, Councillor Robinson voted no, as confirmed at Council.
I've also been told I'm new to this fight. I'm not.
- For years, I've been calling out City Hall and speaking up for residents on taxes, overdevelopment and our waterfront.
- I led the community fight against the two condo towers, and we won.
- This June, I filed freedom-of-information requests on Council costs, Northeast Pickering servicing and more, to get residents answers this Council hasn't shared. The results, along with more of my investigations, are on my news page: shaunrickardformayor.ca/news
Now I'm offering a written plan: a 0% freeze on the City's portion of your taxes, an independent forensic audit, protecting our Bay, waterfront and greenspaces, and reopening City Hall to residents.
Pickering deserves a Council that works. Recess is over.
My plan: shaunrickardformayor.ca/plat…
Online voting is open until Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.
