"Mom, how did we get so rich?" "Your dad uploaded a list of all 1,636,144 active 501(c)(3) organizations to a website and waited."
President Trump announced a new federal fraud whistleblower incentive program that he says will pay Americans, including journalists, a 1% commission for reporting fraud and corruption involving taxpayer dollars. "If you turn somebody in and you, let's say, report, and you find $1 billion, we are giving a commission to that person of 1%. It's a lot of money," Trump said.

But doctor, my inner child is asking for a beer. Are we to teach her that when she voices a need, she can’t trust the adults around her to meet it?

Biggest mistake I see technical start ups make in hiring: not realizing the recruiter is the face of the company that your prospective candidates see first. If your company depends existentially on attracting and closing top tier technical people, your recruiter needs, at the very least, to be legibly one of them, able to speak the same language, and able to articulate that your company values talent. I can count the number of times I've spoken to a hiring person at a technical company who could do this and was not currently employed there as an engineer on a single finger.
~20 years ago I had a recruiter tell me I was too junior for a specific role they had. They didn’t realize I wrote the tech test for the company that was trying to hire (they had outsourced the test). I said I wouldn’t apply anyway due to the conflict of interest of doing the engineering test I authored. The recruiter then went absolutely ballistic that nobody “senior” could seemingly pass the tech test and was pissed I made it too hard for the folks she’d already been putting forward. Nobody had passed it. Within 12 months I’d left to start my first business at 23. Never looked back.

Crazy how so many on both sides of this discussion are missing the point. What if I told you that it is actually *radical* to believe romantic love is magical, special, and all-powerful? What if I told you that the most “reactionary” thing you can do is ‘settle’, which is what trad-types often encourage? What if I told you all of history’s truest lovers have also been history’s greatest innovators and rebels, risking it all in pursuit of their ideals?
Reactionaries for some reason think “romantic love” is some special magical thing and not as mundane, boring, and common as like “eating food”

The United States is dramatically more diverse than any European country & has suffered less internal conflict than any of them in the last 250 years alone. France, Spain, Germany, Italy in the last 250 years. Utter basket case
Show me a single multi-cultural, multi-racial society that didn’t eventually end in either balkanization, civil war, or a failed state. The list begins and ends with Singapore, and something tells me you aren’t too keen on living under a Singapore-style government.

Leftism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind (criminals and hobos), alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect (everyone else)
This is worse than looting by a huge amount

Personal credit lines were once a privilege reserved for the extremely wealthy. Credit cards extended this luxury to the masses. But, as per usual, the masses are proving they are unworthy of this gift and insist they are being screwed over by dark magic.

A good rule of history: if you find yourself opposing a student movement while siding with the ruling class, you're wrong. Every time, in every era, whatever the issue. xitter.cf/i/trending/21121889132…

Was recently at a bar where drinks were dynamically priced, i.e. the more people bought a particular drink, the more expensive it became (price would then decayed over time towards a floor). Fascinating to watch a few market mechanisms play out in a bar: People ventured outside their usual orders in search of cheaper alternatives, often discovering new favorites in the process. Others treated rising prices as signals of quality, happily paying premiums to try expensive drinks they’d never had before. More experienced drinkers behaved like value investors, picking up underpriced drinks they already knew were good while everyone else chased the popular ones. Price discovery, information leakage, herding, and utility trades all unfolded over rounds of drinks. More bars should try this.

the real top regret people have when they’re dying is unknowable. they probably only realise their real biggest regret when theres not enough time left to say it. it’s probably something like ‘I wish I experienced taking the life of another human being’

An obnoxious and increasingly prevalent phenomenon in the last couple decades is that the heirs of wealthy/uber wealthy have to do this undignified song and dance about carving their own path, risking it all in the process and having scars to show for it while individually having Fed tier liquidity backstops. Dudes like this can be decent traders, they should also just let their nuts hang and stop pretending they had bring it out the mud and persevere through serious trials and tribulations. No one that spent summers at fourth and fifth homes in Greenwich village and the Hamptons in between boarding school needs be obligated to claim these struggles, what’s wrong with being unapologetically rich and dunking on the plebs that have an issue with it

A disturbingly large portion of this site seems to believe Living Life is inherently harmful and traumatizing
One thing I find so unconscionably awful is the normie idea of a "break-up." I can't imagine spending years loving a person and then saying "yeah, just pretend I never existed." If suicide is murdering the future, then a break-up is killing your past. It's a totally inhuman act.

I don't think you need to be friends w every ex, every ex fling, or whatever, but I do think people would be more in touch with themselves and less weird if they stopped acting like every breakup means they have to completely hate and cut ties with the person
