Global health is at a crossroads. Efforts at reform of the global health system need to answer key questions on functions, what should be delivered in different contexts and levels, and how the system should operate. New in Nature Medicine 👉 doi.org/10.1038/s41591-025-0…

Our global health architecture must adapt to the current challenging climate, with institutions working seamlessly together and finding new ways to do more with less. The Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research is an important initiative seeking to drive reform and resilience across the sector by adopting a systems approach. Good to discuss these topics, as well as the Gavi Leap, with AHPSR Board Chair Helen Clark and Executive Director Dr Kumanan Rasanathan at Gavi’s offices today. @HelenClarkNZ @Rasanathan

Good catch up with @AllianceHPSR in #Geneva: its “aiming for impact” strategy supports #UHC through primary health care; health service delivery in crisis contexts; #climateaction & action on #NCDs; & digital health transformation. @rasanathan @MartenRobert

Good meeting with @HelenClarkNZ on the close collaboration between @WHO and the @AllianceHPSR she chairs. We also discussed the ongoing responses to the #Marburg and #mpox outbreaks in Africa. We agreed that securing calm and peace is essential to safeguarding health systems and protecting people’s health, from the Kivus to the crises in Gaza and Lebanon. Peace is the best medicine.

I was consulted when @bmj_latest was planning a new global health journal & was sceptical. I was wrong - I didn’t anticipate a founding editor with so much intellect, character, & vision, he would transform the way we think of global health itself. Thank you @seyeabimbola!
Some personal news: I've decided to step down as EiC of BMJ Global Health. Next week marks 8 years since its first issue, published 8 months after I was appointed its EiC. Thank you for all your support over the years. Here's a playlist to mark my exit: open.spotify.com/playlist/3s…
