Emmanuel Macron calls Brexit “the biggest lie of the past 30 years.”
He said Brexit supporters promised a richer Britain and to solve immigration. 10 years later, Britain has lost 8 points of GDP, and immigration is more complicated than before. 🇪🇺🇬🇧
The Brexiters won the referendum, but they lost the battle over Europe.
They created a generation of young Britons that will do everything it can to return to the EU, with each new generation pushing further in that direction.
They created exactly what they wanted to prevent: a strong European identity among British youth.
The question is no longer whether the UK will rejoin the EU, but when. 🇪🇺🇬🇧
Disgusting behaviour by the fascist extreme right wing boneheads in the UK. Shameless.

James O'Brien says it's one of the most 'disgusting' stories he's heard throughout his career.
Forget the 51st state.
All roads lead to Brussels.
Welcome to Europe, Canada. 🇪🇺🇨🇦

Canada and the EU are natural partners, united by shared values.
With President von der Leyen and President Metsola, we focused on what comes next: a deeper partnership that reinforces our mutual sovereignty to create more opportunities and prosperity for our peoples.

‼️ Even the international press can see it: Canada is moving ahead of Brexit Britain in building a new economic and security relationship with Europe.
And Britain’s response? Officials “shrugged off” the proposal because its details have not yet been settled.
Thos complacency and arrogance is precisely the problem - it’s why the Celtic nations want to leave the Uk and join the EU!
Canada is helping to design the future relationship. Britain is standing outside, pursuing a timid reset constrained by self-imposed Brexit red lines and dismissing everyone moving ahead of us.
Brexit was sold on the promise of a Canada-style deal and now Canada itself is leaving that model behind while Britain remains trapped inside it.
According to Bloomberg, the EU is now prioritising Canada over the UK.
Britain left the EU to build “Global Britain” and an Anglosphere.
Canada is turning towards Europe, Washington towards itself, Australia is 15000 km away.
Global Britain may end up as Britain Alone.

Trump’s a fool, whose behaviour caused Canada and EU to look to each other…
However, there are some deeper issues about US behaviour from its govt and tech businesses that require Europe, UK & Canada (EU-CANZUK?) to build some real alternatives to US services dominance.

Canada is building a deeper alliance with the EU so that we may write our own futures — with our values, and our ambitions.

The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.
The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.
We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.
Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

This video by Canada is ingenious and catchy too. It’s about the Tariff War that Trump started with them. 🇨🇦
Canada is Europe across the Atlantic.
Not Europe replicated, but Europe continued.
Canada developed its own culture, shaped by its European heritage, its North American environment and the influence of Indigenous peoples, while remaining part of the same broader civilisation.
Distinctly Canadian, but part of the same civilisational world.

✅ 🇨🇦 Mark Carney’s answer to claims Canada has no choice but to capitulate to Trump: diversification through a deeper relationship with the EU.
“This fall we will begin intense discussions with the European Union, the world's second-largest economy, to build a much stronger and deeper economic and security partnership"
Canada already has CETA, but now wants a much stronger economic and security partnership with a market of 450 million people.
Meanwhile, Britain imposed Brexit on itself, abandoned privileged access to that same neighbouring market and became more exposed to Trump’s coercion.
Canada is responding to an unreliable America by moving closer to Europe. Britain responded by leaving Europe and making itself weaker.
One country understands that sovereignty comes through strong alliances. The other confused isolation with independence.
