@PeterObi appears to show far greater urgency toward suffering in the North than toward the suffering of Ndi Igbo in the South-East.
Communities across Orsu, Orlu, Ihiala, Okigwe, Isseke and surrounding areas have endured years of killings, kidnappings, destruction and displacement linked to the activities of Nnamdi Kanu's IPOB/ESN and Simon Ekpa's terrorist groups.
Homes and businesses have been destroyed. Communities have been emptied. Families have been displaced from their ancestral homes.
Villages were burned down and destroyed, thousands of Igbos were killed as insecurity ravaged the entire South East.
Over 6,000 Igbo people were killed in Orsu community alone.
Millions of Igbos fled from their villages,homes and their own ancestral land due to Biafra/IPOB terrorism and insurgency.
Yet Obi has repeatedly been reluctant to unequivocally condemn ESN, often he would claim he is “not sure who is doing what.”
Too often, when questioned about the perpetrators of violence in the South-East, Obi has been cautious about assigning responsibility, saying he is not certain who is responsible.
But let a gunshot be fired hundreds of kilometres away in the North and Obi is suddenly there, sympathising, condemning the attacks, making headlines and publicly demanding actions to be taken.
In September 2026, for example, he visited victims of an attack in Plateau and attempted to visit victims of the Yelwata massacre in Benue.
But same has not been accorded to the victims of IPOB terrorism in Orsu, Ihiala, Okigwe, Isseke, & Orlu.
So Ndi Igbo need to ask him a very uncomfortable question:
Where is that same urgency when Igbo communities are being destroyed by violence?
What exactly is Peter Obi's plan for the security, reconstruction and recovery of the South-East?
Ndi Igbo cannot afford politics where our suffering becomes an afterthought while tragedies elsewhere receive immediate political attention and becomes an opportunity for political visibility.
We need answers. Not sympathy when it is politically convenient.
For if care is not taken, Peter Obi as a president will be a disaster for Ndi Igbo and the entire people of South east like Goodluck Jonathan was to the Ijaws and the entire South South and the Niger Delta.
