vaikhanasa grhya sutra and bodhayana grhya sutra etc. contains worship of arca of vishnu and archa is of 8 forms as found in puranas. I accept it, But you don't take concept of Itihasas which expand the meanings of the vedas when it gives an alternative of anukalpa in pashuyaga.

I am waiting for the day when VHP opens up শ্রীদুর্গাভক্তিতরঙ্গিনী of কবিকোকিল শ্রী বিদ্যাপতি and learns that "themes" even in "paṇḍāla"s aren't acceptable to the tradition. I can already foresee these disguised hedonistic বাঙালিs getting exposed in their pursuits via this move
Bhaviṣya Purāṇa:
It should be surrounded by rows of lamps (dīpamālā) and adorned with flower garlands at the entrance. (6/7)
Beautiful garlands, banners, awnings, fly-whisks, and other decorations should be arranged abundantly. The temple should resound with the tinkling of small bells (kiṅkiṇī), feature a grand entrance, and shine with a luster like the marvelous moon. (5/7)
Trees—such as Nyagrodha (Banyan), Udummbara (Wild Fig), Aśvattha (Sacred Fig), and Plakṣa (White Fig)—should be planted in order starting from the east. Flags, umbrellas, and banners should be raised over the temple of Chaṇḍikā. (4/7)
Archways (toraṇa) for the goddesses should be erected according to proper width and height. One cubit of the post should be placed underground, while 4 cubits remain visible above ground. (3/7)
The dimensions may range from 10 or 12 cubits (hasta) up to 100 cubits. O best of sages! The platform for the Goddess should measure 4 cubits, or its central area may extend up to 7 cubits. (2/7)
Translation ---
Devī Purāṇa (from Ratnākara and other compendiums):
For fulfilling desires and achieving success, a temple for the Goddess (Devī-gṛha), endowed with all auspicious characteristics, should be built in the northeast (Īśāna) or eastern direction. (1/7)
