Itโ€™s time to peel back a sneak and reveal that Nano Banana (Gemini 2.5 Flash Image) floats into Photoshop this September! ๐ŸŒ Soon youโ€™ll be able to combine prompt-based edits with the power of Photoshopโ€™s non-destructive tools like selections, layers, masks, and more!

Mitigating racial bias from LLMs is a lot easier than removing it from humans! Canโ€™t believe this happened at the best AI conference @NeurIPSConf We have ethical reviews for authors, but missed it for invited speakers? ๐Ÿ˜ก

๐ŸšจVideoLLM from Meta!๐Ÿšจ LongVU: Spatiotemporal Adaptive Compression for Long Video-Language Understanding ๐Ÿ“Paper: huggingface.co/papers/2410.1โ€ฆ ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿ’ปCode: github.com/Vision-CAIR/LongVโ€ฆ ๐Ÿš€Project (Demo): vision-cair.github.io/LongVU We propose LongVU, a video LLM with a spatiotemporal adaptive compression mechanism designed for real-world hour-long video understanding. LongVU adaptively reduces the number of video tokens by leveraging (1) DINOv2 feature similarity across frames, (2) Cross-modal text-frame similarity, and (3) temporal frame similarity. 1. High quality on video-based QA: 67.6% on EgoSchema, 66.9% on MVBench, 65.4% on MLVU and 59.5% on VideoMME long 2. +5% accuracy boost on average across various video understanding benchmarks compared to LLaVA-OneVision and VideoChat2 3. Our edge model, LongVU-3B, also outperformed 4B counterparts such as VideoChat2(Phi-3) and Phi-3.5-vision-instruct by a large margin. with: @xiaoqian_shen @liuzhuang1234 @Hu_Hsu @garvinchen2 @klightlm @zechunliu @balakrishnan_vr @Fanyi_Xiao @hyunwoojkim @bilgeesra @raghuraman @moElhoseiny @vikasc

[LG] ShiftAddLLM: Accelerating Pretrained LLMs via Post-Training Multiplication-Less Reparameterization H You, Y Guo, Y Fu, W Zhouโ€ฆ [Georgia Institute of Technology] (2024) arxiv.org/abs/2406.05981 - The paper proposes ShiftAddLLM, a method to accelerate pretrained large language models (LLMs) via post-training shift-and-add reparameterization, creating efficient multiplication-less models. - ShiftAddLLM quantizes each weight matrix into binary matrices paired with group-wise scaling factors. The associated multiplications are then reparameterized into 1) bitwise shifts between activations and scaling factors, and 2) queries and adds based on the binary matrices. - To mitigate accuracy loss from reparameterization, a multi-objective optimization method is presented to minimize both weight quantization error and output activation error. - An automated bit allocation strategy is also introduced to assign a mixed number of bits to each layer based on their vulnerability, further improving accuracy and efficiency. - Experiments on 5 LLM families and 8 tasks show ShiftAddLLM achieves higher accuracy (5.6 and 22.7 lower perplexity on average) at comparable or even lower latency than state-of-the-art quantized LLMs at 3 and 2 bits respectively. It also reduces over 80% memory and energy vs original LLMs.
