As Himalayan glacial lakes grow, the risk is no longer confined to the mountains above. Floods can trigger cascading hazards downstream, putting communities and critical infrastructure in their path Sneha Mahale (@randomcards) writes.

I really love the way India solves its problems -Scientists are resigning? Make rules tight so they can't resign -Exam papers are leaking? Ban Telegram -Roads have potholes? Say that you will bring flying busses -Someone doing hunger strike on paper leak issue? call him anti-national
🚨 INDIA TIGHTENS RESIGNATION RULES FOR ISRO MISSION SCIENTISTS. • More than 100 scientists have left ISRO in the past few years. • The government has now made it harder for senior ISRO scientists to quit. • Scientists working on major missions like Gaganyaan will need Department of Space approval before resigning or taking voluntary retirement. • ISRO says the new rule will help keep experienced scientists, while it also hires 1,000+ new employees and creates 460 senior-level posts.

Abandoning a pet is one of the worst forms of betrayal. You are the centre of that animal’s universe - its entire understanding of the world. When you walk away, you’re not just leaving an animal behind. You leave behind a shattered creature. Few things reveal character more starkly than how we treat those who depend on us completely.

I have a boy who can't speak, and a dog that can't bark. Snoopy came from a shelter, who rescued him when he was abandoned at their gate, and we have no idea of any of his past life. But it must have involved some trauma, because if you even wag a finger at him for the slightest infraction, he cowers and hides in the nearest convenient spot. And Neel can't speak, and is not really the most adept with his fingers, but he screws his face up and somehow manages to attach the leash to take his doggie for a walk. And then they are off downstairs, Neel unsteadily swaying as Snoopy strains at the leash, and Snoopy trying to take in all the alluring scents before Neel drags him away. And you wonder how difficult it is for both, all that fine motor work for a kid with an incomplete cerebellum, and all that tugging and inexpert pulling for a doggy who can't even bark in protest. But every day, Neel rushes to get ready for his walk, grunting away in excitement, and Snoopy goes up to him and stands obediently while Neel fumbles on his harness. And then off they go, imperfect and yet somehow so complete
