There’s an irony in Texas being the flashpoint of latest race discourse. I’ve lived all around the US including the most liberal of cities. But most integrated place I’ve lived has been Houston, full of White, Black, Hispanic, Nigerian, Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, and many more.

Nothing kills a company quicker than A players having to deal with C players.
This is the equivalent as your grandma saying walk into an office building to fill out a job application
Getting a job is not fucking hard, you’re just lazy. This is how to get an interview for any job you want:
1. Discover role you want to apply for
2. Scrape MD or Senior Mgmt email from apollo or list kit
3. Email them and say:
Hey Name, my name is X. I found your email in my research and am interested in Y role at your firm. Here’s how my experience is relevant (1 punchy sentence). I’m a young, hungry professional with nothing to lose. Can I send over my resume?
99.99% of people won’t do this and that’s why they lose.
The other way. Add them on LI and message them there. Leverage alumni network to get your foot in the door.
But getting their email and emailing them as mentioned above demonstrates resourcefulness and problem solving skills right off the rip.
Managers LOVE advice that doesn't require them to hurt anyone's feelings.
This usually excludes processes that rely on: managing bad performers, using AI, or telling someone to cut it out
my family works in traditional businesses. think real estate, gas stations. whenever i talk to them about tech, their eyes glaze over.
no one outside of sf can keep up with the new products coming out.
why doesnt someone just take successful products from 2015 - 2021 to then offer to middle america.
i'm 100% sure ramp / granola / notion for traditional middle america would crush

id probably still be making <150k a year if it weren’t for my kid.
quit my job the minute i found out about my first kid, picked up my stuff from nyc and move back home to live with my parents in houston.
instead of getting a new job, I started a new business.
many late nights writing building and talking to people.
if you have any agency, nothing motivates you like having a kid.
