I’m proud to present my first movie as a writer, director and producer: BORN TO DANCE. FORCED TO RUN
*SCREENING | BORN TO DANCE. FORCED TO RUN*
Saturday, July 25 | 6:00 PM
Children’s Museum of Brooklyn
145 Brooklyn Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11213
FREE ADMISSION
*VOICES Productions* invites you to a special screening of BORN TO DANCE. FORCED TO RUN, written and directed by *Pascale Solages*. A production of *Guerline Jozef*, *Haitian Bridge Alliance*, and *Little Haiti BK*, in partnership with the *Institute for Justice & Democracy in Haiti (IJDH)*, *Brooklyn College, Josué Pierre, Rogers Burgers, NativRoots Collective, and Haiti Cultural Exchange*.
In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court decision allowing the Trump administration to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) protections for more than 350,000 Haitians, this screening offers a timely and deeply human perspective on the realities behind immigration policy.
The documentary follows the journey of Steeven Labady, a Haitian dancer whose life has been shaped by migration, displacement, and resilience. After fleeing Haiti, Steeven’s path took him through the Dominican Republic, Switzerland, refugee camps in Germany, and eventually to the United States in 2023. Along the way, he confronted racism, violence, legal uncertainty, economic hardship, and the constant search for a place to belong.
Throughout his journey, dance remained his anchor. Through movement, Steeven transforms adversity into artistic expression and survival into resistance.
Blending intimate interviews, archival footage, and powerful dance performances, Born to Dance. Forced to Run explores migration not simply as a political issue, but as a human experience marked by courage, sacrifice, memory, and hope.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with *Guerline Jozef, Pascale Solages, Steeven Labady, and Ralph Thomassaint*, followed by a reception.

VERY important for people to understand that the Trump admin did NOT win a decision today saying that they had lawfully ended TPS. Instead, what the Supreme Court held was that even if the Trump admin had openly ignored the law in making TPS decisions, courts cannot stop them.
