Might have to grab a few megas. Nice looking cards
2026 Topps Neon Marvel Analysis I understand this will be zero help to anyone considering drop already happened earlier today and it was a hot mess. But odds showed up ~45 min prior to launch, so it just wasn't happening in time. If you have any awareness of this release, it should have been an easy buy. You already know Hobby was already selling close to $400/box on the secondary market, even before the Topps launch went live. So you don't need any analysis to tell you that $110 was a stellar price that you should have grabbed if possible. No surprise there. So the question at this point: is it worth paying almost $400/box for Hobby? Or will one of the retail formats provide a worthy alternative if you'd rather not participate in that nonsense? With that, I think I can help. Welcome to 2026 Topps Neon Marvel. Part 1: The Rundown 4 Formats: Hobby- 5 cards/pack, 20 packs/box, 12 boxes/case Value Boxes- 5 cards/pack, 7 packs/box, 40 boxes/case Megas- 5 cards/pack, 10 packs/box, 20 boxes/case Super Boxes- 5 cards/pack, 12 packs + 3 bonus packs/box Pricing: Hobby preorder- $100/box, drop day pricing- $110/box Value- $25 Mega- $50 Super- $40 Part 2: Production Numbers Total cards in product: 35,370,110 Since this is the first year of Neon Marvel, I don't have a set from last year to compare that to. But here are a couple relevant comps: 2026 Disney Neon- 21,297,200 total cards 2026 Topps Chrome Marvel Comics- 20,800,576 total cards As you can see, Neon represents a significant jump over both Disney Neon and the next biggest Marvel release from this year, Topps Chrome Marvel Comics. Total Production by Format: Hobby- 62,500 boxes (5,208 cases) Value- 488,889 boxes (12,222 cases) Mega- 155,680 boxes (7,784 cases) Super- 56,333 boxes (4,694 cases) Part 3: Heat Map Expected Hit Rates Per Box: Hobby: Autos + Sketches- 1 per 6 boxes (2 per case) Parallels- 20.1 Inserts- 4.1 Numbered Cards- 2.1 Value: Autos + Sketches- 1 per 156.6 boxes (~4 cases) Parallels- 3.9 Inserts- 1.4 Numbered Cards- 1 per 3.9 boxes Mega: Autos + Sketches- 1 per 39.5 boxes (~2 cases) Parallels- 8.5 Inserts- 2.1 Numbered Cards- 1 Super Box: Autos + Sketches- 1 per 59.9 boxes (~5 cases) Parallels- 25.9 (this includes the ~15 "Base Cards Super Box Designs" found in the bonus packs.) Inserts- 6.5 Numbered Cards- 0.9 Rare Inserts: For this release, here is what I'm counting as rare inserts- 1-Up, Marquee Motion, Marvel Murals, Neon Heroines, Neon Tarots, & Neon Villains. Rare Insert Hit Rate by Format: Hobby- 1 per 11.7 boxes (~1 per case) Value- 1 per 38.6 boxes (~1 per case) Mega- 1 per 18.5 boxes (~1.1 per case) Super- 1 per 43.8 boxes (1 per 3.65 cases) Part 4: Value Map Based on release pricing of $110/box for Hobby and MSRP for all retail formats. $/Card: 1) Super- 67¢ 2) Value- 71¢ 3) Mega- $1.00 4) Hobby- $1.10 $/Parallel: 1) Super- $1.54 (Low rate due to the ~15 "Base Card Super Box Designs" in the Bonus Packs, which I've counted as parallels. Excluding those, Super Boxes still come in best at $/Parallel at $3.67.) 2) Hobby- $5.48 3) Mega- $5.88 4) Value- $6.38 $/Auto + Sketch: 1) Hobby- $660.00 2) Mega- $1,973.50 3) Super- $2,394.00 4) Value- $3,916.00 $/Numbered Card: 1) Super- $43.01 2) Mega- $48.08 3) Hobby- $52.38 4) Value- $96.25 $/Rare Insert: 1) Mega- $925.50 2) Value- $964.25 3) Hobby- $1,288.10 4) Super- $1,752.80 $/Quality Hit: Defined as any Base or Insert Parallel /75 or less, any unnumbered inserts 1/case or rarer, any Auto or Relic /100 or less. 1) Hobby- $82.61 2) Super- $103.96 3) Mega- $130.35 4) Value- $244.93 At $400/box, the math on Hobby boxes changes a bit: $/Card- $4.00 $/Parallel- $19.91 $/Auto + Sketch- $2,400.00 $/Numbered Card- $190.48 $/Rare Insert- $4,684.00 $/Quality Hit- $300.40 Part 5: Best Formats Obviously, at or near drop price of $110/box, Hobby is the best overall format. Congrats if you got in at that price. You should be pleased. But hold up. Even at drop pricing, Hobby is not the most cost effective way to pull Parallels or Inserts. Those go to Super Boxes & Megas respectively. Once we bump that up to current market pricing of $400/box, Hobby is actually the worst format for everything, including autos and sketches. Once Hobby price reaches about $330/box, Megas then become the best way to pull Autos/Sketches. I'm really struggling to see what warrants the 4x spike we're seeing in Hobby boxes. I'm just not seeing the value. If you're looking for Chromes, Hobby has the only Chromes I see on the odds sheet, the "Chrome Neon Etch". So that's a bit of a bummer. Those Chromes and a Sparkle Foil Rainbow are the only things exclusive to Hobby. If you care to buy Neon Marvel and you were unable to get in at drop pricing, like pretty much the rest of the world...I implore you to not pay market price for Hobby. Mega Boxes and Super Boxes are a far better buy. Sure, if you're looking to stash something for future sealed ROI, Hobby was the play. But that ship has sailed. Megas or Supers will not 4x in price. But they are far better value rips at current prices. Megas & Super Boxes share similar metrics and are both equally solid plays. The difference is from a $ Per Parallel perspective, Super Boxes are considerably better as they will have many more unnumbered parallels. But if that's not your jam and you'd rather go for the upside of Rare Inserts, Megas are Superior. It is worth noting that based on $ Per Quality Hit, Super Boxes offer the better overall value of the two. I wouldn't even worry about Value Boxes. As usual, the value they provide is almost non-existent. Part 6: Print Runs Base Card Production: ~138,930 ea Unnumbered Parallels: Base Rainbow Foil- ~14,410 ea Diamante Foil- ~4,680 ea Base Super Box Design- ~33,800 ea Red & Blue Foil (Super Box Bonus Packs)- ~25 ea Sparkle Foil- ~1,565 ea Chrome Neon Etch Base- ~625 ea Marvel Rivals Base Image Variation (20 card CL)- ~16,855 ea Unnumbered Inserts: Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (20 card CL)- ~16,855 ea Glow Up (20 card CL)- ~16,855 ea Manga Madness (10 card CL)- ~16,855 ea Marvel Snap (20 card CL)- ~16,855 ea Marvel Snap XL (Super Box only, 16 card CL)- ~14,085 ea Pet Avengers Assemble (10 card CL)- ~16,855 ea Rare Inserts: 1-Up (20 card CL)- ~315 ea Marquee Motion (11 card CL)- ~200 ea Marvel Murals (6 card CL)- ~900 ea Neon Heroines (12 card CL)- ~730 ea Neon Tarots (12 card CL)- ~180 ea Neon Villains (10 card CL)- ~100 ea Unnumbered Autos: Giant-Sized Booklet Autos (10 card CL)- ~210 ea Manga Madness Autos (10 card CL)- ~220 ea Neighborhood Spider-Man Autos (13 card CL)- ~395 ea #thehobby #SlabSquatchAnalytics #2026ToppsNeonMarvel
