If you don’t value and respect freedom, I have no respect for you. I can find common ground with anyone that respects that core tenant and none with those that don’t. It’s shocking to me how much freedom is being ridiculed and mocked by those around me.

Annabel Richter was a 19 year old FIT student. She was fed fentanyl by a man named Moises Friere who told her it was cocaine. Friere knew what he was doing — he gave the drugs to two female students and didn’t take any himself. While Annabel was overdosing, Friere stripped off her clothes, took photos of her naked body, and then raped her instead of calling for help. Because of what he did, she is dead. There are no “I am Jane Doe” rallies for Annabel Richter. There is no daily coverage of her death on CNN. There are no New York Times investigations creating timelines of her last day. Unless you read local crime news in New York City, you will not have heard about this case. Why is Cornell’s Jane Doe of so much more interest to mainstream news than FIT’s Annabel Richter? Perhaps because news loves to create narratives about predatory white male college students and refuses to make national-news villains of men like Friere, who commit most of the actual crime in places like New York City. The NYT and CNN aren’t lying when they do 50 stories about Jane Doe and zero about Annabel Richter. They’re just exercising editorial judgment about which parts of the news you need to hear.

You've probably seen the video. A young Frenchwoman in Paris, in tears, begging looters to stop. "Why are you doing this? That's not what we stand for." Some accounts are mocking her. "She voted for it." I won't. Because what you see on her face is not stupidity. It's a disease that has infected the entire West, and it has a name: suicidal empathy. The term comes from Gad Saad, an evolutionary behavioral scientist at Concordia University in Montreal. A man who fled the Lebanese civil war as a child, and who knows what it looks like when a society falls apart. His new book, Suicidal Empathy: Dying to Be Kind, is the follow-up to The Parasitic Mind. Here is the thesis, and why it concerns every one of us. Empathy is one of the best things about us. It evolved for a reason: to care for our children, our kin, our tribe. It was calibrated for a world where the people you felt for were the people around you, and where empathy always came paired with its counterweight: the instinct to protect your own and to recognize a threat. Suicidal empathy is what happens when that mechanism misfires. When it fires at the wrong targets, in the wrong amounts, with no brake. When we feel more for the criminal than for his victim. More for the stranger who breaks the rules than for the citizen who follows them. More for how compassionate we look than for what our compassion actually produces. Where does it come from? Four layers. First, biology. Empathy is a spotlight, as the psychologist Paul Bloom put it. It lights up the one face in front of you and leaves everything else in the dark. The crying migrant on the boat is visible. The thousands of future victims of a broken system are statistics. A spotlight is a terrible tool for running a country. Second, our own civilization. The West is the civilization that put the victim at the center of its morality. Christianity taught us to care for the stranger, the poor, the weak. It was one of the greatest moral revolutions in history. But cut off from its other half, justice, responsibility, the duty to protect your own, it turns into something else. Third, ideology. In The Parasitic Mind, Saad described idea pathogens, ideas that hijack our reasoning. Suicidal empathy is the emotional counterpart: an ideology that hijacks our compassion. It sorts the world into oppressors and victims, then demands unlimited empathy for whoever ranks as the victim, whatever they do. Fourth, status. In the age of social media, empathy has become a display. Posting "refugees welcome" costs nothing and earns applause. The bill goes to someone else: the working class, the suburbs, the women walking home at night. The results are everywhere. Criminals treated as victims of society. Sexual assaults by migrants met with lenient sentences. Self-defense branded as aggression. Borders treated as cruelty. Saad's conclusion is simple: a society dies when it would rather display infinite tolerance than use its survival instinct. Now the part I'll add myself, and that few people dare to say. On average, women score higher than men on measures of empathy. It's one of the most consistent findings in psychology, across cultures, and it makes perfect evolutionary sense: for most of human history, the survival of children depended on it. It's a strength. But it means an ideology that weaponizes empathy will hit women harder. And the data shows it: in country after country, young women have moved sharply to the left of young men, especially on immigration. This is where men have a responsibility. Not to mock. Not to lecture. Not to say "she deserved it." Empathy has always needed a counterweight, and that counterweight was the protective instinct: the one that draws lines, says no, and stands between the threat and the people it loves. Men abandoned that role. They were told it was toxic, and many believed it. So they stayed silent at the dinner table, at work, with their partners, sisters, daughters and friends. That has to end. Men have to have this conversation, honestly and with respect: compassion that cannot say no is not compassion. It's surrender. And the first to pay for it are women. Many women already understand this better than anyone. Some of the bravest voices in this fight are women, precisely because they are the first to feel the danger in the street. A civilization rests on a balance: compassion and strength, openness and borders, mercy and justice. When one side swallows the other, the foundations crack. What we are watching in Europe is what happens when empathy has no counterweight left. Look at that young woman again. She isn't the enemy. She's what this ideology made of a generation that was told kindness would be enough. Our job is to make sure she's the last generation that has to learn it this way.
She voted for it. She welcomed them. Faced with the encore, she begs them to stop. In her heart she knows they will not. Everything she believed. That they were French like her, fighting for the same cause. That the ones who warned her were full of hate. That she would be safe. It all falls apart in this moment. She is terrified of what comes next. In her heart she knows. Only remigration can save her.

The reduction in homicide experienced by El Salvador is the most extreme fall ever recorded.
My latest article is about El Salvador. The country has become safe--I've rigorously documented that and shown that every objection falls flat--but will that lead to growth? Will El Salvador become rich? Link: cremieux.xyz/p/will-el-salva…

"Why did they waste so much time making a flying car no one can use in the real world?" Because not everything is about whether you can imagine it being useful to you. Because like art, sometimes we make things for the glory and challenge of making them. Because we don't know if what we'll learn will make your toaster work better and you'll never realize it because you take for granted that things get better without thinking through how that happens. Because you can't inspire people with toasters, but a barrel-rolling car that can drive upside down is absolutely setting someone on fire right now. I'm not a car person and you shouldn't trust me with a rocket, but I want a roadster because I make art and that thing is absolutely a thing made for love and passion and I get that in my heart. (Also because I'd look really cool in one.)🤣

Tesla now runs half of America’s public DC fast chargers with over 40,000 ports, while the $7.5B federal NEVI program had opened just 384 by April 2025. One company built the backbone of the national network with its own capital while the government spent billions and produced a rounding error. Private industry is still outpacing the mandate, and that gap isn’t narrowing anytime soon.

A retired NASA engineer who had worked on the Space Shuttle program for 25 years was hired by SpaceX at age 62. He described the first week as the most disorienting experience of his professional life. At NASA, a design change required 3 meetings, 2 committees, a review board, and 6 to 18 months of documentation. At SpaceX, his new supervisor said "if it works, build it. If it doesn't, change it by Friday." He sat at his desk after the first day and called his wife. He told her he felt like a man who had been swimming with ankle weights for 25 years and someone just cut them off. He could move. He could decide. He could build something in the morning and test it in the afternoon. The constraint that he had accepted as the nature of aerospace engineering turned out to be the nature of bureaucracy. Within 6 months he had contributed to more design iterations than he had completed in his last 5 years at NASA. Not because he was working harder. Because the time between having an idea and testing the idea collapsed from months to hours. The same brain. The same knowledge. A different operating system. He described a specific moment where he proposed a modification to a Raptor engine component. At NASA, the proposal would have entered a queue. At SpaceX, the modification was machined by the end of the day and tested by the following morning. He watched his idea become a physical object in 18 hours. At NASA, 18 hours would not have been enough to schedule the first meeting to discuss whether to schedule a meeting. He told an interviewer: "I didn't get smarter when I went to SpaceX. I got faster. The intelligence was always there. The system was in the way." The difference between SpaceX and NASA is not talent. NASA has extraordinary talent. The difference is the time between a thought and a test. SpaceX compresses it. NASA elongates it. The same engineer produces 10x more at SpaceX than at NASA because the bottleneck was never the engineer. It was the meetings about the meetings about the work.

at what point can we simply admit that describing "finding fraud" as "far right" is essentially a self-tattle from the left? when the argument is always "you have no right to do this" or "ad hominem" and never "we're innoccent" it really speaks volumes.
When will the mainstream media realize there is nothing “right-wing” or “far-right” about exposing fraud? The media is an enemy to the legal law abiding taxpaying citizen. I am not, that’s why they hate me. I’ve done more journalism with my pinky than their entire organization

⚡️Suppose an infinite consciousness knows every possible outcome. It knows everything about love, fear, death, discovery, and loss. But there’s one experience omniscience cannot have while remaining omniscient: Genuine uncertainty. It cannot discover something it doesn’t know. It cannot face a future whose outcome is genuinely hidden from it. It cannot experience the vulnerability of being a finite creature while simultaneously possessing unlimited perspective. Something has to become limited for those experiences to exist. Individual consciousness may be the mechanism through which infinite possibility becomes lived reality. A particular life requires boundaries. Memory. Time. Ignorance. Consequences. Choices that exclude other choices. The cost of being someone is giving up the perspective of being everything. Separation would then arise because distinct experience requires distinct perspectives. Perhaps existence becomes individual because only something finite can experience what it means to have something at stake. And that suggests a final possibility. The universe may contain every possible story in its underlying structure. Consciousness is what makes a story happen to someone.

In April 2009, Elon Musk was asked why General Motors wouldn't just buy Tesla. "You can't afford it." Fifty-five days later, GM was bankrupt. He was 37, and his salary was $1. In late 2007 his own car cost $140,000 to build. Tesla was selling it for $92,000, a $48,000 hole in every car, with the money almost gone. November 2008: GM's Rick Wagoner flew to Washington on a $36 million corporate jet to ask Congress for $10 to 12 billion. A congressman asked him if he would work for $1 a year. Wagoner, paid $15.7 million in 2007, said he had no position on that today. The clip is two moments from one evening at Silicon Valley's Churchill Club. In the first, Musk admits how close Tesla came to running out of money. In the second, he explains Detroit. "Tesla was in a really dire situation at the end of 2007." "This was inevitable. It was only a question of when." That is Musk on April 7, 2009, four weeks after the stock market hit its crisis low and fourteen months before Tesla went public at $17 a share. The money rules in that talk fit on an index card. Know your floor before you need it. At 17, with a few thousand dollars, he tested whether he could live on under $1 a day, hot dogs and oranges bought in bulk. Set the first target at groceries. Zip2 was started to cover food. It sold for over $300 million. Learn the money side, or someone else decides for you. That is why a physics student also took an economics degree at Wharton. If rent eats the business, cut the rent. He and his brother slept on futons in the office and showered at the YMCA. Know your unit cost before you scale. That $48,000 hole nearly ended Tesla. GM's bill went to the public: a $49.5 billion rescue, and $11.2 billion of it never came back to taxpayers. In the same talk Musk said he would love to take over NUMMI, the GM and Toyota plant in Fremont, but couldn't afford it unless someone gave it to him. GM walked away from the plant in bankruptcy. Tesla bought it the next year for $42 million. The full 93-minute talk is free on YouTube. In 17 years it has gathered about 333,000 views. GM had billions of public money and still walked away from the factory. Musk started with one number: how little he could live on. Work out yours before you quit a paycheck.

I have been similarly trying to get my head around how Australia's economy is not growing despite the fact that it has every advantage you could possibly imagine completely maxed out.
This is a massive fumble by Canada. It also wasn't the case 10+ years ago. Canada has 13x Texas's land, more people, and far more natural resources: Forestry, freshwater, potash, uranium, hydroelectric, oil & gas reserves, aluminum.
