This happens it’s not AI 3 pin charging should not be done unless absolutely an emergency, people shouldn’t comment on stuff they don’t understand. Gary (GSH) is the GOAT of honesty and integrity
More EV scaremongering.
This time from a company that has a responsibility to educate and inform people about electrical safety, not frighten people with AI-generated images.
There is a legitimate safety message here.
Regular 3-pin sockets and portable “granny” chargers need to be used correctly.
EV charging places a high, continuous load on a socket for many hours, which can expose poor connections, damaged sockets or inadequate wiring and lead to overheating.
But if the problem is as widespread as the post suggests, why use an AI-generated image rather than a genuine example from an incident they’ve attended or investigated?
The truth is because it is extremely rare, and usually results in a replacement or upgraded install as well as education.
The sensible advice is simple…
Have the socket and circuit checked by a competent electrician if it’s going to be used for EV charging regularly.
Never use extension leads or multi-plug adapters.
Check the plug and socket for heat, damage or discolouration.
A dedicated home chargepoint is the preferred solution for regular charging.
If the portable charger allows the current to be reduced, using a lower setting can reduce the electrical and thermal load, although it doesn’t make a faulty socket or installation safe.
Portable 3-pin EV chargers have their place, particularly for occasional or backup charging.
The issue isn’t that plugging an EV into a 3-pin socket automatically causes a fire; it’s that sustained high-current charging demands more from the socket and electrical installation than most everyday appliances.
That’s an important safety message.
It doesn’t need an AI-generated disaster scene to get people’s attention.
However, they got loads of interaction, which is clearly more important than training.
Hey @OctopusEnergy it’s not me I think it’s you both devices getting network and power
