The Finance Minister is blaming the excessive liquidity behind FIIs' exit from Indian markets.
Just a few months back, when markets were able to withhold the selling pressure by FIIs,
she was lauding the Indian retail investors.
Very convenient arguments to justify double/triple taxation on capital market investors.
For context, Long-term capital gains tax was made 0% after the introduction of STT in 2004.
In 2018, this govt brought back 10% LTCG on listed equities.
Then the present FM raised it to 12.5%.
STT rates have been ever-increasing.
STT collection has increased from ₹7,350 Crores in FY16 to ₹57,522 Crores in FY26.
And surprisingly, the FM said that she hasn't raised taxes in her tenure.
FIIs have net sold Indian listed equities worth ₹7,33,188 crores since the beginning of 2024.
Today itself, renowned banker Mr Vallabh Bhansali of ENAM said that we tax the FIIs like no other country does.
Our policies need to humble down given the geopolitical and AI headwinds.

India's stock market is apparently underperforming because investors can exit too easily.
Imagine investing your own money and then having the audacity to take it back.

The BIGGEST problem with the NDA government? ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY.
❌ No major reshuffle of key ministries despite the electoral setback.
❌ FIIs are fleeing Indian equities.
❌ The AI reversal trade isn’t working.
❌ Now, LIQUIDITY is being blamed.
❌ Every problem has an excuse, but where is the accountability?
And let's not forget the aggressive advertising campaign around “SAHI HAI.”
Markets are bleeding. Investor wealth is shrinking. FIIs are pulling money out.
Yet, instead of introspection, we get explanations and blame games.
Except for tax relief/removal, which is a major issue, everything else seems to be blamed on something or someone else!
Where is the willingness to accept responsibility and correct course?
PRACHAR IS NOT GOVERNANCE.
EXCUSES ARE NOT SOLUTIONS.
The common man deserves answers, not another advertising campaign.

The most disturbing aspect of this government is the glaring absence of credible voices with expertise in finance, economics or the stock market who can explain the situation, address public concerns and restore investors’ confidence.
With lakhs of crores in market wealth being wiped out, FIIs relentlessly selling, investors losing money, the rupee weakening and controversies like ethanol adding to the uncertainty, who is accountable for explaining what is going wrong with the economy?
People deserve answers, not silence. They deserve transparency, clarity and accountability—not a complete communication vacuum when confidence is eroding and wealth is being destroyed.

Now I Understand the logic..
Bcz of Domestic liquidity we are buying what FII's are selling..

Too much liquidity and too much ease of doing business that is why economy is not attracting FII investment. 🤦♂️

Now when AI trade is unwinding , India is still underperforming…
After AI, we are blaming liquidity given by domestic investors. We will blame everything except excess taxes…
Markets sooner or later will humble us more …

The FM is worried about capital outflows in 2027 and links stock market weakness to liquidity.
But here's the inconvenient question:
If India's growth story is so spectacular, why is foreign capital heading for the exit?
When investors leave, the government worries about liquidity.
Perhaps it should worry about credibility.

‘The Govt should look at ‘safeguards’ when it comes to foreign companies listing in India, I know there may not be many takers for my view!
‘We have to get out of this endemic mindset of “thoda Hai, thode ki zaroorat hai”. Can’t be satisfied with incremental change.
