In the last few months : 3 students including Sahil have committed suicide at IIT.

The median Dalit student at an IIT will be smarter than more than 90% of non IITians and will likely excel at any other institute at the country.
Those who clear the JEE are very very gifted, regardless of the cutoff. Of course the elite amongst them operate at another level altogether.
The online rabble rousers can’t even hold a candle to any of them and need to pipe down a bit.
There are some structural issues at elite institutions which need addressing. But to make it sound as if sub 70 IQ students are being let in is downright disgusting.
Not just the faculty of this IIT. If the professors have an iota of self-respect, they should immediately go on strike & organize a nation-wide protest covering all IIT campuses.

GC and OBC faculty in colleges should avoid any form of non-public interaction with students. If an interaction is mandatory, such as during viva, wear body cams and record the entire session. Also install CCTV with a mic in your offices.
If the administration doesn't allow body cams, refuse the assignment. At worst, this may lead to disciplinary counseling; however, that remains far better than being falsely accused under the Atrocities Act, which can result in job loss, public humiliation, financial strain, imprisonment, and years of judicial harassment.
Start demanding body cams so that either the request is met or it generates enough awareness to force a public discussion on the misuse of the Atrocities Act.

THE CASE OF DR DOOLLA: FROM AWARD WINNING PROFESSOR AND EXAM INVIGILATOR TO SC/ST FIR.
Dr Doolla completed his MTech and PhD from two IITs. He has won multiple honours and awards.
On Friday, Sahil Wakode (20), a second-year Dalit student in the Energy Science section, was caught using a mobile phone during an examination conducted between 2 pm and 4 pm. Dr Doolla was the invigilator. A few hours later, Wakode died by suicide.
Soon after, protests broke out on campus with students blaming the "SYSTEM" that puts too much exam pressure on students. In response IIT Bombay put out an official statement saying no formal disciplinary action had been initiated against Wakode. The institute claims the student was counselled by faculty and assured that the incident would not derail his academic career.
NOW, THE SAME PROFESSOR WHO INVIGILATED THAT EXAM HAS BEEN NAMED IN AN FIR INVOKING PROVISIONS OF THE SC/ST ACT. The act was invoked because Wakode's parents accused Dr Doolla of "casteism".

Her reply:
she has no problem. Muslim cleric is a respected person. He has his own view. Freedom of expression is his constitutional right.
Then she went one step further: if anybody wants to follow it, they can follow.
The same politics that shouts "smash the patriarchy" goes silent when the remark comes from inside its own community.
Rights for the muslim cleric. No stand for the women.
That is peak hypocrisy.
